    Decline in deadlift weight today.

    Hey guys,

So I've been attempting to hit a 405 deadlift, but seem to be having some difficulty doing so.

June 13th I hit 385, then 395lb on my deadlift, probably could have gone for a 405 but felt taxed. Since then I've been doing 405lb rack pulls, 195+ front squats, as well as t bar rows with various back accessory work.

Monday this week I did 225 squat 5x5, and then 315x6 deficit deadlifts. Today I thought I might be able to swing a 405 deadlift, did my warm up of hip abductor, quads, lat pull down. Everything went up fast, got to 315 and it went up. 365 came up incredibly slow that I felt drained after it.

I'm wondering what gives? 17 days later and I'm down 30lbs in my deadlift, I know that not every day is a PR, but wondering what's going on. Was it that I was deadlifting twice in a week?

I should note that I've been off creatine for about a week now, I've lost 6+ pounds (most likely water) and haven't consumed a whole lot of calories (haven't been hungry for whatever reason) -- if that's part of the problem too.

If you want to set a new PR and improve on DLs, then focus on DLs. Gotta sacrifice other lifts (in your case, deficit deads and front squats) if you wanna set that PR.

Also, being off creatine, and deprived of calories and restful sleep will negatively affect your strength. You won't make any gains regardless of what you do.

What kind of deadlift program are you on?
You will never progress if your constantly working above 85% of your one rep max.
Plenty of good programs out there to follow.
I suggest you find one that suits you.
While your at it i would have your DL technique evaluated by a qualified coach, trainer or high level powerlifter to make sure your hitting it correctly without power leakages.

Not sure how these seemed like afterthoughts to you.
