I stood up for a friend of mine's wedding 2-3 weeks ago, he got us all suits instead of tuxes. This guy is pretty loaded as a DOJ lawyer and there is no mention of us buying the suits. I understand renting tuxes for wedding, but he gives up the suits to keep.
Today I get an email from him...its a bill for the suit: about 500$.
I never wear suits and this thing will literally sit in my closet. His groomsmen gift? He covered the socks. Srs.
Like is this pretty fuked up or at all typical? I am kind of pissed, this guy has been cheap the whole time I've known him but this seems really low to me.
Edit: A few people think this is a troll, this is 100% legit, here is the gift I got along with the bill.

But thats only like 75 bucks lol nothing compared to 500. i wouldnt do that to my boys think anything over a 100 should be covered

you can't be returning suits encrusted in semen, it's just not right. i'm sure he isn't judging you for whatever you did when you left the reception, but you cannot return suits completely covered in jizz. this is why he charged you and he is right in doing it.

Fukn weddings are disgusting.
I would not consider him a friend and since he is a fancy lawyer, ask him for the agreement that you signed stating your intent on buying the suit. When he can not provide any sort of agreement, you tell him to kick rocks and to call you on his divorce day.
Weddings are such a crock of chit.

To expand the situation a bit, there was his bachelor party a few months ago at a house party, where there was like 20 people, the house was like 1k, we get a bill a few weeks later for 75$ each. No talk beforehand of 'lets go in on this'.
I also gave him 200$ for my gift to him. I get some chump socks for my gift. I'm not rich either, I got the money but 500$ is significant.

We need a new ideology with the core values of reason, honesty, science and secular progress over the older traditions of religion, superstition and dogmatic faith that have long defined humanity. We will never be free to progress and advance until the last stone from the last church is cast down onto the last priest. And every equivalent.

Completely cheap. Id be more ashamed of the fact that you stood in his wedding without "truly" knowing the guy
why the F would you stand in a stranger's wedding?
All my groomsmen got
Custom suit paid
Hand tied bow tie
English Socks
A bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label with a personally etched note on each

Sounds like all you guys are ****ing cheapskates honestly. You get "a bill" for the bachelor party? From who? You object to paying $75 to pay for a guy that you STOOD IN HIS WEDDING but had an issue with $75?
No brag but when I hosted my buddy's bachelor party (best man duty) I threw down at least $7k to ensure it was a blast. Other friends paid me what they could but I wasnt worried about it. Just wanted my friend to have a good time. You sure you guys consider each other friends?

Not just significant but timing is important here. You had your fun and it was all over. half a month later, you get a bill outta nowhere like teenage pregnancy and now you have to start backtracking. You got a shady dinkhead for a friend, pal and since he's a lawyer, I'm not surprised.
