Its close for me. I watched prime Kobe.
Old Fart Kobe is legit worse player in history and im being serious, and everyone here has memory of a goldfish.
But prime Kobe, you bet the last 3 minutes of game 7, Kobe would have demanded the ball every play despite the 5v1 defense and he would have put it in maybe 45% of the time WITH 5 players on him. Too many times did I see him take the selfish shot and sink it. Hes got killer instinct.
The biggest advantage of Kobe is if hes on fire he cannot be shut down regardless of whos on your team. Whereas LBJ can be shut down with the right tool set in any situation. And thats a massive advantage.
I think LBJ is a bit overrated. Hes top 10, but not anywhere near the top 7 - the birds/duncans/magics/wilts/russels etc. Like I said, everyone has the memory of a goldfish and LBJ has gaping holes in his game. PER is overrated, especially if the player demands the ball in his hands for 24 minutes a game. Defense, screens and getting your team mates involved is better. Thats why people say Russel is overrated because they look at his offensive impact and think hes average. But he did ALL the dirty work needed to win. No other player in history could have won 11 rings in the same situation except maybe Duncan. Theres so much that goes on besides the PPG/RPG/APG stats. You think going for a block is good? or altering the shot and staying there and being available to alter the second chance? How about offensive rebounds? Watch how Duncan rarely goes for ORPG and gets back on defense asap. How about the PPG and EFG% of curry compared to say Magic who got everyone involved?
So like I was saying, people have memory of goldfish, and Duncan and Kobe will be out of the top 20 in 5 years time and 2018 MVP(whoever it is) will be in Goat talks despite the brilliant careers the 2 had because he dunked on 45 year old LBJ.
For me, I have my own top 10, and i value defense and team leadership more than the highlight reel or stat page.

I feel comfort in knowing I never have to search bballref myself for Kobe stats. I can just come to the sports misc, start a Kobe thread and 50 Lebronies will come rushing in listing Kobe's stats off the top of their heads to the thousandths place, reciting his box score for any given game, and even provide updates on his bowel movements for the week.
Lebronies are certainly a special breed of autistic.

They literally swarmed this thread in the middle of the series trying to prop up Kobe and downplay both Curry and Lebron

and now they're trying to play the victim's card.
Kobetards man, they're funny people.

If you watch basketball you would know the gulf in skill between the two. Lebron is a freak of nature and a great player but his game never impressed me in the same way Kobe's did. Kobe used to have the jaw dropping plays, pretty much had the entire arsenal including doing things I've NEVER seen on a basketball court before and may never again.
Plus, I think Kobe's final runs where much more impressive. The level of competition he was against was much higher. I always LOL at people who big up the Warriors. The team would get absolutely smoked by the Kings, Jailblazers, Pistons, hell even the KG wolves and prob a few other teams I'm forgetting.
NBA has fallen off hard.

Lebron's teams always been stacked, with the refs and the NBA on his side.
He can't shoot anything further than free throw distance, and that's not by coincidence. The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.
That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

2 different players and different style of play. Ultimately these kind of debates turns into arguments and personal opinions. Kobe is a far a superior offensive player. More threat than lebron as he can score from anywhere.
Lebron is more of a facilitator. He gets his team involved more. But coaches and teams revolves everything around him. So if he dont play well the whole team falls apart. Which why people say cavs are crap without james cuz their system is all about lebron.
Stats are not true indication of whos better then who. Its like comparing a volume outside shooter vs someone who lives off layups and dunks. Of course the fg% is going to be better then someone that shoots outside the paint more. Or someone that holds the ball 80% of the time drives in and if cant get a layup dishes it out. If his teammate makes it he gets credit. If misses he doesnt get blame. Do that 40 times a game u r bound to get impressive numbers.
Lebron is a athletic freak. But he acts soft flops and cries to get what he wants. And comparing teams and conference. Kobe played in a much harder conference. Against lots of talented stars. Lebron had a better and stacked team then kobe.
Kobe had a more impressive and harder path. His style of game is way more aesthetic then james.
i think if u ask urself. What can lebron do on the court that kobe cant? And what can kobe do on the court that lebron cant?
kobe can rack up assist and get almost triple double numbers if he wanted to. Already seen that when he played lebron style.

Lol.... selective memory at it's finest. We JUST saw Lebron put up 2 of the greatest Finals series in NBA history (this year and last) with LOADS of big plays at BOTH ends of the floor.... yet you don't remember them.... or aren't impressed.
ok.
Jordan was a ballhog that eventually learned to make the right passes at the right time (Kerr, Pax) and was efficient as hell for most of his career because he took GOOD shots (deadly post ups, tons of dunks early on).
Kobe was a ballhog who routinely tried to shoot over/through double and triple teams (often out to 3pt range which was never really his game).
THAT's the difference.
