    Cut or bulk?

    Hi,
I am new to lifting weights and am not sure if I should be bulking or cutting. I am looking for muscle gains but I'm not sure if it would be wise to do a cycle of cutting before I start bulking. I am currently 5' 5" and weigh 115 pounds. Lifting 4 times a week along with 30 minutes of cardio on those same 4 days if that matters.
    Thank you!

I would say maybe start out with a short maybe 3-4 week cut and then begin a slow lean mass phase! But if you're brand new to lifting you will see muscular progress no matter which route you decide to take.

Bulk at ~1 pound per month and add some muscle mass.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Slow and controlled bulk. 4 Times a week of lifting is perfect. You should be putting on muscle regardless if you're new. Good luck!

As a beginner you can build muscle and lose fat without cutting or bulking.

Do that first, then slowly raise calories in order to fuel further progress on your lifts.
