Hollywoods gonna make a movie about a famous Persian poet Rumi and is again trying to whitewash the characters, as Rumi the main character is going to be played by Leo and Rumis companion Shams Tabrizi is going to be played by robert downey jr. Both of these men were of ethnic Persian origins either from Iran or afghanistan/Tahikestan and the Khorrosan area in general. People of middle eastern descent have created a #Rumiwasntwhite hashtag and the # has exploded, no puns intended. And if you dont know who Rumi is then youre most likely a lowly barbarian peasant.

I personally find it hilarious how when they wanna play notable middle eastern historical figures, they cast white actors of european descent when the character is based on a good guy (moses, prince of Persia etc..) yet when they want evil middle eastern historical figures they actually go out of their way to find someone of mideastern origin or someone who can pass for middle eastern (300, not without my daugther etc..). It really shows the underlying racism of hollywood and america. Smh
