Hey guys hard gainer here.
I've not been gaining muscle in my upper body as I would have liked. I have gone up from 140lbs -> 155lbs in ~6months and made some good gains but have added more fat than I would have liked and expected that at 155lbs I would have a better V shape. I still look pretty skinny even with the fat gain, just not enough muscle up to, don't look wide enough.
I have been gaining consistently altough it's becoming harder to stay caloric surplus now that I am at a higgher weight. I have been eating 1g of protein per lb of body weight. I was thinking that perhaps my lack of gains have been that since I am ectomorph maybe I should up my protein intake to above 1g per lb of body weight? Thoughts? If I up to 1.25 will that make any difference?

You aren't eating enough, you're not a hard gainer/ecto
You're getting in enough protein but you need a proper training routine that has you progressively increasing your lifts
What's your routine now?NASM CPT

It sounds like your issues are training related. You’re eating enough protein and gaining weight at a reasonable pace, so if you put on too much fat, I’d take a look at your program, the progress you’ve made, how consistent you have been, etc.
You can't help the hopeless.

There's no such thing as Ectomorphs or hard gainers. Consistency is paramount, 15 pounds in 6 months is good progression, adding additional protein above what you're ingesting won't make any difference. If your weight is stalling adjust calories, if you don't see any changes in a few weeks increase some more.

For normal people the minimum protein intake is 0.8 gram per lb.
For ectomorphs it's 0.8 gram per lb.Recommended science based fitness & nutrition information:
