Look for just a good, old fashioned analog one . . . like a Taylor or that one I linked on Amazon (that style). You can re-calibrate them using a glass of ice water (down to 32 degrees) and a pair of pliers if needed. They last years.

Well, if you go to a carbine for home defense, you might need to use your hands. Some of us might have children to do something with while we have a rifle, for example. Unless you want to rely on a pistol to stop the intruders.

It was instilled in me to always have positive control of your weapon, specifically the strong hand. Perhaps this is probably why I prefer to not run a sling most of the time. I don't see how holding a handgun with one hand vs. a rifle with one hand for temporary tasks differs much, but again, I'm used to it. I've done so much while holding my rifle with one hand, I don't see an HD situation requiring more that what I have done with one hand.

Maybe I should have clearly stated it, but I don't think having a sling is wrong. I've joked in the past that a sling is a crutch (famous words one of our 240 gunners would say, dude never used a sling for that big fuker lol), but I believe it's just a matter of preference.

Get a meat thermometer . . . chicken needs to be 165 - 170 at the thickest spot. Do that and you'll be golden. I usually look for 165 for something like a simple breast and closer to 170 for a thigh or where you have a bone inside. Juice should also run clear.

The question was specifically about cooking chicken to get it perfect. Thermometer is the best way to do that and to get consistent, moist, done results. No, you don't need a thermometer for a lot of other things--like tenderloins.

Being lefty with long fingers, I don't need a bad lever. Can reach the bolt release without breaking my grip. I love ambi safeties though. Haven't picked up a mag release yet because they're more than their worth.

lefty here with dat dere finger reach..... i actually bought the bad lever during my build before i knew i didnt need it - it was actually more in the way than anything else. When i take my finger off the trigger and rest it above, it rests right on the lever, which would **** chit up, when doing certain things... took it off immediately

That is a good start. I think the overall market and overall everything would be a lot better if people, over time or as they got actively into firearms, aimed for that stock level...and not just as a knee jerk reaction to politics all at the same time.

That's....that's a damn good number. Depending on what I use for my "wish to shoot per month" figure (wish, recent average, likely future amount, etc) I might not make the mark here. Which is depressing because 18 months was still seeing pretty elevated prices last time.

A new congressional report on the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead found that the Marines tasked with responding to the attack had to change in and out of uniform four times, slowing their arrival at the scene of the attack.

Among these were delays imposed on the 50-man Marine Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team, or FAST, which launched from Rota, Spain, more than 2,000 miles away from Benghazi. The team was loaded onto C-130 aircraft, but held on the ground for three hours before being allowed to take off. According to the report, Navy Vice Adm. Kurt Tidd, then-director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified that the State Department had dithered about how to send forces into Libya without creating a larger international incident.

"State was very, very concerned about what the footprint would look like in Tripoli," Tidd said in testimony cited in the report. "They didn't want it to look like we were invading. That was the gist or that was the genesis of the discussion that occurred over whether or not when the FAST arrives at the airport in Tripoli -- because they wanted to reinforce security at the embassy -- but there was concern that it not have this image of a big, invading force."

The Marine commander of the FAST platoon, unnamed in the report, testified that the Marines' orders changed constantly as they waited to depart.

"We were told multiple times to change what we were wearing, to change from cammies into civilian attire, civilian attire into cammies, cammies into civilian attire," he said. "There was also some talk of whether or not we could carry our personal weapons. I was basically holding hard and fast to the point where we were carrying our personal weapons. Like, we've got a very violent thing going on the ground where we're going, so we're going to be carrying something that can protect ourselves."

Ultimately, the commander said, the Marines would change in and out of uniform four times.

I'm not even close to that number, but I did price out what it would take to buy a Dillon 650, necessary reloading equipment, primers+powder for 18k rounds, and 5k projectiles... it'd be about $2.5k so hopefully will start buying that up over the next month or two.

I figure that if Trump wins we will see panic prices and availability for at least 12 months, probably up to 24.

If Hillary wins at least 18 up to 36.

So if I have about 18 months on reserve and can also accrue more during panic at a rate of about 1/3 month's worth per month then over 36 months I can accrue another year's worth of ammo.

I'm at a floating 1.5k pistol rounds because I keep shooting about that amount per month going to tone it back though to about half that unfortunately.

lol, that's double what I'm hoping to average per month. I'm been shooting for 200 pistol rounds once per week, avg
