    Oatmeal vs. Grape Nuts

The first part of my breakfast consists of two servings of Grape Nuts, which has 400 cals and 94 grams of carbs. Since I'm on a high carb diet, this seems to me to be a great choice of food, especially in the morning. Yet I hear so many things about the nutritional benefits of oatmeal. Two servings of oats only provide 300 cals and 54 grams of carbs, but everyone seems to eat at least one serving of them a day.
Should I replace the Grape Nuts with oatmeal in the morning?

    Grape Nuts GI = 96
    Oatmeal = 87

Needless to say, oatmeal is a greatr source of slow digesting carbs so it's always important to incorporate that into your diet. plus you get the fiber

My vote is for a change...Maybe you can eat grape nuts every once in a while

Of those 95 carbs, a large portion is probably sugar. Go with the oatmeal, since it is a slower-dogesting carb source and is a whole food, in comparison to the grape nuts.

OK FIRST OFF DONT EVER TALK TASH ABOUT GRAPE NUTS LOL,

    1 CUP= 103 GRAMS OF CARBS(12 GRAMS OF SUGAR)
1 CUP=12 GRAMS OF FIBER(50% OF YOUR DAILY FIBER)

GRAPE NUTS DESTROYS OATMEAL IN THE FIBER DEPARTMENT

GRAPE NUTS IS MADE WITH WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR

SO IF YOURE BULKING WITH OATMEAL YOURE MISSING OUT ON GRAPE NUTS BIG TIME BABY

It's still processed, while oatmeal is a whole food.

If you want fiber, get some from extra veggies or fruit.

"Whole wheat flour" = bleached flour= junk.

My packages must be different from everyone else's.

    Nutrient breakdown for one serving:

    Quaker Oats - 40g

    Fat - 3g
    Carbs - 27g
    Dietary Fiber - 4g
    Sugars - 1g
    Protein - 5g

    Grape-Nuts - the package cites a 58g serving size, so I converted everything to a 40 g serving:

    Fat - 0.7g
    Carbs - 32g
    Dietary Fiber - 3.5g
    Sugars - 3.5 g
    Protein - 4 g

Are there some tiny differences? Yes, since the oats are just oats, not refined wheat flour and so forth like that used to make Grape-Nuts, they are probably a little better for you. Does it really make a difference? IMO, not enough to worry about. Eat what you like.
    Always learning.
