I'm 27.
Going to delete this thread but I created it after reading that "suicide rate" thread. I'm actually hoping a few specific questions get asked. Don't want this public (even though I'm anonymous) so will delete thread at some point.
Going to be a slight brag thread, my only intention is to let you know how I made it. I've been in the "made it" phase and don't feel too much of a need to brag to the misc, mostly a genuine thread. So.. here's my life.
- Grew up poor/poverty/FA, couldn't get girls as a young teen, anxiety, cheated on, broken home, no mentor, everything.
- Very painful childhood, most odds against me. Always said and thought I'd eventually be something.
- Dropped out of high school, tried a weak community college that was basically taking advantage of people (too young and dumb to realize it) failed that also at the very end. First half of my life I failed everything, surprised I made it through life at that point.
- Been a miscer for a looong time, almost 10 years, browse multiple times per week for entertainment.
Around 19 I started working out (right after finding misc) and my face started to mature, I ended up going from not all that good looking to a pretty good looking kid. First time in my life, I started to get attention from girls from it. That changed me a lot but I still had a lot of anger/anxiety/pain and issues in my life. Still.. my looks changing was huge to me because until age 17/18, I was completely FA. More so due to anxiety I had/couldn't approach. Finally... I was pulling and getting a lot. Loved that. Still hard, still made minimum wage.
- At 23/24 I had my lucky break. I had a low/entry level sales job and was very good at it, built a good resume and networked.
- Luckily got a dream job (right place, right time, luck and prepared/ambitious) started at 120k, half salary half commission.
- Over the next 2 years worked my way asking for raises/performing to a full 200k+ income.
Fast forward to current life:
- 27
- Have a house, with a huge quarter acre back yard, 3 bedrooms (just for me) in the most desirable city in my state near all my friends/where we grew up
- Professional career position, salary just about 100k/year, full benefits, commission another 100+ for a total just under $250k/year, which I'm actually hitting this year (first year over 200k income)
- I work from home with no supervision, work however many hours per week I want. Usually around 30
- Travel the country for free, about one 2-4 day trip every 1-2 months. Suit and tie business travel.
- Have a top model Maserati for fun
- Have a nice Cadillac for daily driver
- Hot GF who's successful & loyal (lol I think) and intelligent
- Buy toys whenever, zero debt, well on my way to a million in stocks/savings excluding physical assets
- Will be a full blown millionaire liquid without counting assets
That's basically made it status. Expecting genuine questions to kill your curiosity. Please no questions about what I do, it is a professional software sales position that any ambitious, professional person can get into with a few years/decade of effort.
Cliffs:
- Was a young FA miscer, poor, rough start to life, it sucked
- Now 28 and have most everything I could ask for
- Wanted to make thread to see if anyone wonders how I feel, waiting for questions
- Hope to get the message across that it's not nearly as hard as people think it might be

I'll post spoon pics if I get called out enough lol but hopefully I give off some sort of vibe that says I'm telling the truth.
Working from home? The money should motivate you. Sure you'll get distracted by the misc and the TV. After 5+ years in this industry... I realize it's an unspoken truth that everyone just kinda works from home. Nobody gets in full time. Travel can be tiring.
Tips for getting in? Find entry level software related sales jobs. Do well, boast about it on LinkedIn, network, talk to recruiters on there, ask for a job with a good salary and good commission. Only accept one that makes 20% more than your previous.
Repeat every 1.5-2 years until you're at the realistic maximum for an "employee" which is around 250k these days. Just rinse and repeat. You need to learn to speak well, work hard, act "bland" to blend in, seem professional, basically act like a boring old rich guy but be a young guy looking for a mentor.
Be the guy you want to be behind closed doors. Don't add work people on FB.
It's truly not hard to find your way into a 120-150k/year legitimate position with a few years of dedication. 200k is also reachable once you're an adult and skilled in your chosen industry with a lot to offer.

Around 60 I'm guessing. Haven't counted in a while. 60 is the # of girls I went to say.. 2nd base with but I didn't really sleep with all of them, denied some just because of fear of STDs/being ugly or whatever lol. Probably slept with 45-50.
Wow that's weird to say... you kind of forget lol
Met current girl with Tinder. I know it sounds bad but whatever. I was just looking to slay, she had just joined (lots of girls use it now) and she turned out to be one of the rare good ones... at least I hope. lol.

That's a great attitude to have, and I admire people who act like this. I naturally assume you're more likely to be happy/successful yourself based on this attitude.
However... you never actually asked if I'm happy. That's one of the questions I was hoping somebody asked.
Lol no but those threads are funny and I always wonder if he actually makes what he says. It pisses me off because what I do is skilled vs car sales... if that guy actually makes 120k+ annually I'd be pissed.

how do you deal with being so much more successful than your peers and childhood friends?
i'm having these "problems" where I have all the time and money in the world to do fun **** like spontaneous trips to Europe but most of my friends are either too busy with real life or have no $
also what are your principles when it comes to paying for **** for your friends? do you just go like "dont worry about it i gotz this guys" everytime?

Read this thread.

Some banned user *cough cough* made this thread years ago, but the info still applies.
Invest every penny you can as young as you possibly can.
Just choose index funds. Until you have a lot of money, just buy into say... the spider, aka S&P500 using Vanguard if possible. Then, join Bogleheads forum (google it) and ask them. It's an investing forum, guys there love to help.
There. That's the main trick anyone needs to be a millionaire.

What was your degree/major? What skills would you say are necessary to succeeding in your field? How much did your first job pay? Can you describe a typical day and the ways you go about making sales? Does your profession in software sales demand articulation skills and quick thinking when making sales or can you just read a script?

I got lucky to get in at my age, and the income level, but it's not hard to imagine someone getting in by their late 20s. Or.. it's not hard to get to the 150k level. I'd say the 200k early on is the right place right time aspect. Without my luck, it would have taken me another 5 years of effort to get there, but it's absolutely within reach of any ambitious professional acting person.

Also checked that 'suicide' thread and wanted to post something positive.
Don't have the time to post much, but I went from living on the street to having two small businesses, putting myself through school even after bombing courses hard, improved my looks, became hard working, dedicated, developed my morals and figured out how to be a man. Bought everything I ever wanted (all the Playstation games I could never get, lol, nice bike, EVO, house, clothes), have hundreds of friends, dated tons of girls, travelled all over.
When I see miscer's crying about doing nothing and becoming nothing, especially when some are like 19 or 22, and all the other depressed dudes are just self-confirming all the negativity, it is sad....
World is yours, anything is possible. It isn't easy, but hard work pays off.
Right now I am in transition because without my true dream, I am still unfulfilled, soon I will leave to go chase that, and will probably not return to the misc.EAT. SLEEP. BE JOHN CENA. REPEAT.
All the things that bring stress, pain, torment, etc. go in one ear and out the other.
Whenever I start to pity myself, feel down, or feel embarrassed, I have a voice in my head that says: "So what? Why should you give a f###?"

Lol, pretty sure my ex is reading this thread. I always knew you followed my posts lol. Don't care anymore. (ignore that for all posters who aren't her).
It was some low level medical thing, only slightly better than a medical assistant. Has nothing to do with what I do now and I quit right before the end, never got my license. Skills are described above. If you can use a forum and somewhat intelligent, the rest is attitude. Which is calm, confident, not cocky, don't act young, don't boast. Strive to listen to more successful people and sublty ask them to mentor you IRL.
The industry and high level sales revolves around knowledge.
I have a solution, if it fits your needs, that's great. Here's exactly how it works. Knowledge is everything. You then apply a slight sales aspect to things, highlighting strengths and avoiding/minimizing weaknesses.
I now hate driving the Caddy after the Maserati lol absolutely love it, just don't drive it always to avoid miles because I plan to resell it for about 80% what I bought it for (always buy slightly used).
