It's the only way I can justify trades.. why else would you do hard physical labor just to make average salary?
How can you possibly say no to this lifestyle:
Dressing up for a night at an expensive restaurant:
Showing up in this:
Having an awesome time with your friends / girlfriend:
Going back to your place:
With her:
And having sex on this bed:
No thanks bro, I'd rather do back breaking labour all day , come home exhausted, and drink myself to sleep

Do people go into trades because they're too dumb to finish a STEM degree?
*** Lay down and trade or get up and STEM crew ***
*** Repping tradesmen on sight because they've been negged by real life crew ***
*** Call tradesmen to my house just so I can laugh at them and slam the door in their face crew ***
*** # of tradesmen's wives banged: 3 (as of May 8th 2016) crew (srs) ***
*** Have hit a plumber with my Audi A6 crew ***

I mean most people who get STEM degrees don't live that kind of life either.
Most people start families, and end up with: average life, average house etc. Most places with a large STEM base are fairly expensive to live in compared to the rest of the country, EG Puget Sound and especially Silicon Valley.
They can afford a new car every few years and put money into savings if they are not immigrants. "Expensive dinners" lmao. People rarely go out for "expensive dinners" without a reason, because it's just a waste of money. You can afford these if you're single and work a unionized trade job anyways.
EDIT: Most STEM people are also nerds, etc. They don't have a pretty wife like that, and they don't really live a particularly exciting life.
Yes, white collar workers do make more money, if they are single (most are not) or DINK then they can afford a semi-lavish lifestyle, but some people don't care about these either. It's really just a matter of preference. Many people in trades are drunks or addicts, too stupid to get a good job etc. Some could not afford college, others simply did not want to go through university/did not see the value.
In the end it's really about what job works better for you. Many people just find mathematics and engineering unbelievably boring.
I think it's very possible that going into trades may have an advantage over STEM degree for the current generation of high schoolers. There's a flood of STEM majors right now, and while projected job growth is enormous, the current job market is already saturated and it is entirely possible that it will be very difficult to find a STEM job due to unbelievable competition.

Lol only about .01% of school graduates end up with all those things. Most end up with a chit ton of debt, drive a crappy old Camry, and work at Starbucks while trying land a good job.
The reality is there are people in trades who live the lifestyle you posted. In fact a buddy of mine runs his own ac/refrigeration business. One man show with a small van. He charges $40-$50hr on labor. Very little overhead as he's a one man show. This week he put in 90 hours, that's $4,500 he earned just this week.
There are losers/successful people both with degrees and with trades...and lots of people in between.

Got accepted to eng/sci double degree (had to graduate in top 7ish percent to get in at the time), decided I didn't want to be an engineer.
Worked few different jobs seeing what I enjoyed, eventually completed a trade as a fitter and turner.
Quickly became supervisor, get 6 figures and I was paid to do my qualification. Now looking at studying part time to open up some new employment options.
If you think trades are dumb try engineering a way to take a chit and wash your hands without the pipes a plumber put in for you.
Just lol if you think man would ever have gone to space without someone to BUILD rockets after the engineers made a bunch of drawings.
Also the best engineers I've dealt with have hands on experience or started out in trade based work, the number of dumb fuks who wonder why chit they draw isn't physically possible to make is amazing.

Nah they do trades because they start out wanting money and doing a trade allows them to do that, but then as time goes on, the people that decided to study end up dwarfing them in regards to paycheques.

Either thought college wasn't cool when they were younger, were too dumb to even attempt, or dropped out, yes.
Furthermore, the constant battle between Trades vs STEM is a battle that only tradesmen are waging, to justify their poor life choice and because they feel inadequate. Most STEM graduates are like "whatever dude".No Negs Crew

I see rising college tuition as supply vs demand. It will continue to rise until the demand goes down.
I personally do not want to spend 40k on schooling to make 80k a year when there are other options. Plus I love working outside

Veryyy few stem people get anything close to that lifestyle. I've seen many blue collar guys drive solid cars/ 8/10 gf / couple vacations a year. What's the problem?

Brah, in Australia, Tradies get paid 10x more than STEM Majors. By 22 they're on 220k/year package with cash in hand.

phucking LOL this is not at all true, maybe if you live in a tent in the middle of a fukkin desert working 7 days a week 50 weeks a year in 55 degrees celsius weather every day in one of the world's worst jobs you'll take home 120k/year, but most people doing that end up OD'ing on drugs as its the only thing to do out there anyway.

LOL @ the blue collar scum coping hard ITT.
Drove past a group of workmen on the way into work this morning.
I was listening to classical music and they were all red-faced and sweaty as they dug holes in the road.
I rolled the window down and spat in their general direction as I cruised past.
Never laughed so hard on a commute before.fist yourself

Smart enough for degree, but smart enough to do work I'm interested in. So yep you're wrong.
Also wrong about the STEM life, so strong cope at being poverty student and enjoy your 30k a year starter wage hoping for the big break in 6 figures.
Meanwhile I'm getting paid to laugh at chit on the misc.
If you're really dumb enough to think either STEM or trades can survive without the other then you are an A grade potato.
