    Awesome Promo!

One thing that I value is genuine people. I work with a lot of people with different personalities and I think it is important to remain genuine to yourself and not let others influence your feelings and thought. Once I started doing this it greatly improved my life. I try to surround myself with genuine people who care about me like family and good friends.

In for some Dymatize love and support

I'm with KoweanGuy saying that family tried holding me back but by my wife. She has complained numerous times that I'm too bulky and spend too much time in the gym. But being my size has saved my life being a law enforcement officer. I have fought many people bigger than me and was able to put skill and out power them. I also love the way I feel and look which is a added bonus that keeps me going daily. It's a lifestyle that I enjoy and don't see me stopping.

What made me the person I am today is hard work. In a sport/lifestyle such as this it's all individual. Noone's going to give you anything or congratulate you for the effort or lack thereof you've given. It's all up to you. And at the end of the day I know if I've given it my all and what I can do to improve for the future.

What values have made you into the person that you are today?

Family, Loyalty and Hard Work are all great ones that I actually feel like are very high on my value list. My Dad cheated on my Mom about 5 years ago and they could never fix the problem so they got divorced. I would never even think of anything like that ever. Loyalty is huge to me because of that life experience.

My family (my husband and I) are what I live for. My family wasn't very good to me and there are lot of things I want to change when having my own family. It's a big motivational power for me to work on being a better person.

Hard work is HUGE for me. I never went to college, but I have a very well paying professional job that I worked my butt off to get. I'm very proud of doing such. I never thought I'd amount to much to be honest. But Hard work DOES pay off.

    Thumbs up

What values have made you into the person that you are today?

Hard Work/Work Ethic-My Dad used to make us do chores before we could do anything "fun" that we wanted to. Saturday morning was filled with mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, laying down bark, trash, dishes, ect ect. I hated it. But I am SO thankful for it now. I actually just called him today to say that. I'm a firefighter in Utah and station life requires a lot of hard work. We live there. It's our second home. So we need to take care of it. This last shift I was on we had to pull weeds and lay down bark. What a coincidence. I had already done this many times as a child. I was always taught to work hard to get what I want, and I have always done that. Wether it be school grades, my wife (I had to work hard for that one lol) and my firefighting career, as well as competing in bodybuilding shows, all required hard work.

Respect-Respect is SO key to making friends and just being like-able. I guess I was raised in a "traditional' family so I've always respected elders. The fire service requires a lot of respect-wether it be for your captain or for the old lady who called you because she can't figure out how to turn her fire alarm off. Respect is key in life.

Happiness-This one is big for me. I've always been able to see the good in every single situation. I see the glass a half full, not half empty. This is SO important because when things go wrong(and they do and will continue to do so) then you need to be able to see the good in the situation, otherwise your life is gonna suck. There is always good in every situation. When I go on calls and people are pissed that they crashed their car, they need to be thankful they didn't die. When I'm bummed that I didn't get a raise, I need to realize that I'm still making pretty good money for the work I do. (PS money isn't happiness). I think this came from me servings a church mission in Bolivia for a year (the poorest country in south america). I saw what people had there and saw that they could still be happy and it made me realize that you can be happy in any situation or circumstance.
The 2 most important things to me when training are 1. The Muscle Mind Connection. and 2. Intensity

The value that has made me who I am is honesty, particularly when it comes to criticism.

There are people who will blow smoke up your ass because they want to "be a nice guy" or they want you to like them.

There are people who will tear into you to cover up their own deficiencies or maybe they're just jerks.

The people who have helped me the most have been the ones who have been able to cut through the crap and honestly tell me what I am doing wrong.

I am a perfectionist. I hate it when I am wrong, and my initial reaction to getting criticism is like I got punched in the stomach, but once the comment sinks in, I can work on it and become better.

I aspire to be better than I was yesterday, but not as good as I will be tomorrow. The people who are able to make me a better person are the people I value most.
    You can't help the hopeless.

Like many have said its all about FAMILY! Learning from my parents and grand parents has shown me how to be a good father to my 2 young daughters. Everyday I think about my daughters and my wife and how I want them to be proud of me and so I work a little harder! I want to continue to show them hard work like my parents and grand parents showed me! My father recently retired after 30 years of being a career Fire Fighter and serving the community. I am trying and I will follow in his foot steps. I have completed multiple training courses to be a career FF and I am now on my local volunteer Fire Department. I will put in the hard work needed to succeed! Failure is only a bump in the road, it's not the end!

Also having 2 daughters has pushed me to get as big and jacked as possible before they start dating so I can scare the boys away!! They will FEAR me! lol

There are a lot in my life that I really valued that helped me shape today!
    1. My dad. Before he passed, he battled lung cancer for over 7 years. He showed me to live and enjoy it. No matter the situation, always try to smile and live it to the fullest. He battled cancer punch by punch taking over 100 rounds of chemo therapy. That was a very amazing sight to see that how he took all those chemo and smiled and enjoyed life. He was the main reason I am the person that I am today.
    2. Family! No other people out there has more impact than my family. Through love and Dicipline, it helped shaped To do what is right and also what do everything the right way. They also instilled the my Hard work ethic that cannot be broken.

What values have made you into the person that you are today?

Hard work? Loyalty? Family? Whatever it may be...

    In for support.
Well, i can honestly say all those apply to me. As a young boy I spent a lot of time in the hospital for my ears (over 20 operations in all). I was the poster child for being bullied. I used it as motivation and taught myself to play sports, excel in school, etc. It taught me humility and how NOT to treat others....among other things. My parents divorced when i was young and my mother met my step father (Marine). This man taught me discipline, respect and detail....in everything i do. My mother and I are very close and she has always supported me and my endeavors. Ive always been a hard worker...I believe in earning what you have...and that luck is just a byproduct of how hard you work. Ive been in the health and fitness biz one way or another over 20 years and it has allowed me to pass what ive learned to my kids. all in all..i have a lot to be thankful for and i like to show that by doing what i do to help others.

My family has made things what they are for me today. There is nothing more important in life than family, whether by blood or by friendship. Family values are something that can not be replaced and can easily be the single strongest motivating factor for anything. Dealing with many personal issues, the gym is the one place I can go to consistently and just get in the zone and not think about anything else but the next lift and the next challenge I set for myself. Its at the point where my nephews/cousins/friends are all drinking up MY protein because they think that will be the difference for them as well lolol. It was just that I started paying attention to what most of the positive people were saying on these boards. Changing up the nutrition and the work out plan. And whenever I get down, all I have to do is look at them and pick myself back up.

DID I READ THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD CORRECTLY??
    WOW, Thank you Dymatize!

Sticking to and living out your values is something incredibly admirable that I try and do daily.

A few things I try to do to live out my values are,
Call home regularly - Family is #1 and even though I am away at school I try make sure that they know that
Get in the gym - My health is another top priority for my physical and mental wellbeing... the gym is my time and it has a huge impact on all other areas of my life
Attend Church on Campus/Host my small group weekly - I struggle with my faith, as do many, and these two small actions keep me on track and help me continue to grow
Read every night before bed - I started reading for personal growth a few years ago and it has impacted my life HUGE! Every night I try and devote 1/2 an hour before bed to reading and improving myself in some way
Act with integrity, be a man of my word - This goes without explanation. I know what my values are as does everyone with their own. I am the only one who truly knows if I am living them out fully, I try to be honest with myself and be the best version of myself that I can.

    Those are just a few.
Look forward to reading everyone else's responses.

But being my size has saved my life being a law enforcement officer. I have fought many people bigger than me and was able to put skill and out power them. I also love the way I feel and look which is a added bonus that keeps me going daily. It's a lifestyle that I enjoy and don't see me stopping.

    In because Snickerdoodle sounds great.

What made me into the person I am today(physically)... mostly my mistakes (full story in sig); going from obese to underweight in an extreme way did quite a bit on me physically, but much better now in that regard.

As for what made me who I am as a person though- Definitely a heavy influence from my Brother In-law who went through the Corrections Academy; seeing him in his uniform when I was maybe 12 or so made me want to do the same. Along with him and some very influential teachers in my Justice classes in college I was able to stick to my goals and become a Correctional Officer too. Got a sweet career and just bought my first house; pretty much both on my main goals in life done right there.

Now it is reaching my next life goal which is finish my apprenticeship (2 years on job (almost 1 year down)), and promote to Correctional Counselor. Been a fun journey so far and can't wait to see how life goes next and how it shapes me more in the future.

Great contest, I'm in! Good luck to everyone!

The values that made me into who I am today is initiative and hard work to complement that. It all started when I had to do a speech in front of class and completely choked in the process. I never wanted that to ever happen to me again so I continued to put into practice what I wasn't good at and it was public speaking. Every chance I got, I put myself out there and spoke in front of people and it eventually became so much easier. There aren't many people out there who take initiative into things and it's how I try and differentiate myself from others. Whether it is in the gym or it's in real life, being different is something to really be proud of and I'm glad I have instilled this into myself. People begin to realize this about you and puts you steps ahead of your competition in the process.

I try to preach this to many others who are younger than me to hopefully get them to feel the same way and become inspired from it. You're not a leader until you breed one yourself and then that person makes one themselves as well.

I would have to say all the mistakes I made growing up and in college.

Growing up especially in middle school and high school I was overweight and got made fun of a lot. But I was never one of those who would go home and cry...well I would but I always always fight back and always defend myself. I did get in some fights but always managed to work my way from getting suspended lol. Anyway It wasn't until senior year of high school I was sick of it and decided to lose weight and lost over 90 pounds. I rememeber getting made fun of senior year of high school when I dropped 40 pounds halfway and joined track. I remember some of the team mates talking saying I was a joke and I wouldn't be able to last but I forced myself too....I would run perimeters and force myself to finish because I didn't want to be left behind.

My mom had diabetes and my sister was overweight for most of her life...My mom wasn't overweight but she wouldn't try to lower her diabetes and would continue to eat pasta and bread saying shes Italian or using holidays as an excuse to eat bad. In January of this year after not working out for a year because I was just using two jobs as an excuse I decided to get healthy again and change my whole eating habits. I was drinking three times a week...eating out a lot...although I managed to stay at 120 I was considered skinny fat.

Since January I was able to get my fat percentage down from 28% to 21% and have been doing heavy lifting. I learned that cardio alone wont get rid of being skinny fat and have even signed up to be a NASM trainer using my past of being overweight I feel like I would be a great trainer because I kept it for so long and I would be tough because I realize theres no room for excuses...

It's hard to describe what inspires me.
Basically its the unknown, the unbeaten road.
As cliched as it sounds, there is a whole new universe out there that I have yet to experience. The vastness of experiences that awaits me out there is what inspires me, motivates me, to continually push and improve myself so that I can have as many new experiences as possible.. to live my life to the fullest.

What values? Well hard working and honesty for the most part. Being able to admit my mistakes and when I am wrong. Stubborn at times as well. Growing up a fat kid and not wanting to go back to that.

The biggest though is my parents. We were no the most well off and we had assistance at times due to not making as much as many families. Parents had 5 kids but they worked hard to provide for us and raise us the best they could.

Definitely in for an opportunity at some Dymatize Snickerdoodle.

As for your question. I wish I could have a more thought out answer, but really all I can say is my work ethic has made me who I am today.

In lifting, diet, work, and schooling one thing is consistent throughout. I simply don't take days off, and I bust my ass day in day out to try to further myself in my career and in life.

Whether I get zero sleep, work a double back-to-back days, feel sick, or just don't feel like being productive I still train every day and punch the clock for work. I may be young still but I take pride in never once calling off work sick.

For me, its loyalty and friendship. I have spent too many years jumping countries to have any long lasting ones. But whatever few i have, i dearly cling on to them. Long distance friendships are hard. But i do my best. Living with them during college for 4 years has tuned them into a second family.

Also there is loyalty to my football team, Manchester United. Early hours on weekends just to watch them play. Being a football fan in US is hard.

That being said, i want that Orange now...
