Hey guys, I got a runny nose and slightly red eyes.

It is something I overanalyze every single time I get sick.
In hindsight, its better to just rest and miss a few days, its not that big of a deal to rest for a few days and then get back after it.
But, if you are itching to get into the gym, which is how I am when I'm sick...a general rule of thumb is if it's above the neck you can go (but dial the intensity back). If its below the neck, body aches, fever, etc just rest; eat and stay hydrated.

Is there a format for threads that mods close? Or does it depend on whether or not they had sugar in their coffee that morning? I swear I've seen threads exactly like this one get shut down before anyone even had a chance to reply.
It's not for the sake of OPs health either. Usually it's not a debate whether you should go to a place where a lot of people are milling about and risk spreading your germs to them.

I would probably go and test yourself with a very light warm up. See how you feel and play it by ear from there. If you decide to go on with the workout, I would go fairly light with only a couple of sets, then call it a day. If your warm up feels crappy, I would just let it go for the day and live to fight on another day when you get better. I agree with others that rest is going to be your best bet.

The rule of thumb we use for our kids and school:
yellow boogers? stay home
fever? stay home
threw up w/in last 24 hrs? stay home
(unless, you've eaten something substantial since then and did not throw up)
All those signs point to you being contagious. So don't go to the gym.
Could you have those symptoms and not be contagious, sure.
Could you be contagious without those? You betcha.
Runny (clear) nose and red eyes seems like allergies. Ok to go to gym.
So this is only general advice, not necessarily meant for this particular situation.--There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

--The proper plural form of the Latin adjective biceps is bicipites, a form not in general English use. Instead, biceps is used in both singular and plural (i.e., when referring to both arms). The form bicep [sic], although common even in professional contexts, is considered incorrect. (from Wikipedia)

If you feel strong enough and can breath without too much trouble then try lifting (of course, if you have a fever it's definately best to rest because the body is under enough strain).
I'm recovering from a sinus/chest infection and had to skip two workouts but did workout yesterday, just an abbreviated workout (3 sets each of squats, incline bench rows, shrugs, barbell curls) and it felt fantastic.
Just listen to your body. If anything, start the workout and tailor it to how you feel as you go - nothing wrong with doing a 'lighter' or abbreviated workout if you feel alright.

If you think you are contagious (see my previous post) don't be selfish and stay home.
A woman in my wife's gym came in sick and it got to like 70% of the people.
5 days off of Planet Fitness won't kill ya.--There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
