I use at least 5 grams a day. I love it.

I use Creatine HCL. No bloat and smaller dose necessary.

Three months ago, I took creatine for the first time. I loaded, but much less than recommended. After about a week, I broke out in hives on my back and chest. I didn’t think it was the creatine so I kept taking it. The hives got worst so I stopped taking it since it was the only new thing that I had taken, but the hives still persisted and it drove me crazy (itchy skin)
After two weeks, I went to a dermatologist who asked if I had taken or used anything new. At my age, I’m at the comfort stage so I rarely try anything new and different (eat the same food, use the same soap). The only exception was the ON brand creatine, but I had stopped using it so I wasn’t sure it was the cause. When I mentioned creatine to the doctor, she said hives is a known reaction to it. She said the timeline also fits and it can take awhile for the body to rid itself of the excess creatine.
The doctor ordered lab blood work and even though I had stopped taking it two weeks prior, the lab results still showed an elevated level of serum creatinine above the norm. That was the first time in my medical history that it had ever been elevated so I guess my body (skin) got angry at it.
Creatine might be beneficial to most people, but I was one of the unfortunate who suffered from its adverse side effect. If you’ve ever had hives, you can understand how miserable it can make you feel. That’s one experience that I never want to experience again.

I've been taking it for about 2 years. I started monohydrate for the last year and had better results than using CEE. I went off a couple times and noticed a difference, I looked flat. When I went back on, I noticed a fuller look.
Waited too long to get serious and now I'm on a mission to earn the body I deserve.

I believe it was made for us over 40s as I get better results from it now than I did before I was 40. I don't notice as much when I am taking it but more when I am cycling it and not using it. But it also might be the fact supplements improve over time as well.
I too only use Creatine Monohydrate in powder form as the other stuff is inadequate or a rip off.
You can only try it and see what happens.

O
In Australia - drug stores are called pharmacy's
Years ago there were lots of compounding pharmacy's - where the pharmacist would make his own products from raw compounds. We used to buy creatine and BCAA bulk from him (late 80s) served in a plain brown bottle. They still exist around the place today but no where near as many.

I've been on/off (mostly on) monohydrate for the last 8 months. I can't say I feel any big 'TA DA!' effect from it, more of an awareness that my strength and recovery between sets have been good and improving despite dropping 10lbs (mostly fat) and still building lean muscle. It's cheap enough and haven't experienced any ill effects. I drink lots of water.
My 3 golden rules for weight training.
1. Stress the muscle through progressive overload.
2. Stress the muscles in the path the fibres run.
3. Stress the muscle with maximum contraction, stretch and static holds.

I used it for a while several years ago and did not notice one bit of difference. No weight gain, no strength gain, no nothing.
The same with all the pre-workout hype. I tried it and it did NOTHING for me.
So, who knows, I could just the rare exception. Since then, it's just been most meats, vegetables, fruits, plantains, water, and herbal tea for me.
Others that I know and are close to have used creatine with outstanding results
