As fast as you can handle down to 10-12% without any significant impact on gym performance and daily activity levels. From there down to 8-9% about 1lb/week, any faster is likely to cause LBM loss or severe metabolic adaptions, if hormones and gym performance don't crash then you can probably do upwards of 1% bodyweight/week but that is pushing it.

How much loose skin was it?
I think skin gets tighter once your body has been lean for a while, i have a sneaky feeling however that this will be mostly in your head as it is with me.
I can pull skin+fat around my lower stomach and really hate it show other people (normal people) and they think im insane for even mentioning itStart of my diet 03/06/2014 - 189.5lbs 25-30% BF

This. Everybody loses a little strength on a cut...but strength loss does not necessarily mean muscle loss. I truly believe the "muscle loss on a cut" claim is blown out of proportion because people in the 15-20% BF range think they have more muscle on their frames than they truly do.
Sure if you eat way too little for an extended period of time, muscle loss will happen, but if you run a cut the way bb.com folks recommend, you shouldn't have to worry about muscle loss at all.

Welcome to the mental game my friend!
most likely its abit of fat/skin but if that was a struggle to see you might well find bulking very hard thing to digest.
This is my issue and the second i see any gains im feeling fat, cutting again and losing it all.
Interesting to see how you get on though, everyone is different.Start of my diet 03/06/2014 - 189.5lbs 25-30% BF
