So I have decided on the rack and the bench and now for the weight, I am thinking of getting the bumper plates vs. iron.
so which do you guys recommend for quality and price.
Rogue echo
Hi temp
OFW
MDUSA
or anything else, those colored bumpers do really look nice, but the price bump is too high. I did see the OFW contract and they look good too.
Suggestions?

I just received a 160lb set from OFW today.
My first bumpers so not much to compare to. I went with them cuz they have a better warranty than the Rogue Echos.
Also, I saw a video from Ofw where they threw 10lb plates 40ft off a roof and they survived.
Thought that was pretty cool...lol.
Shipping was fast too.
If I was going to have bumpers as my main set though (I use iron mostly), Id save and get 500lbs of the Rogue 2.0 training plates.

I'd avoid 10lbs bumpers as the insert will come loose over time. 10lbs is a change plate. Even 25lbs see the insert come loose or in higher end plates (Rogue 2.0 Training) using them alone will see the plates warp some. I've seen tons of 25lbs bumpers Hitemp etc..with loose inserts. 10lbs are just asking for it.

Let me add that this is from dropping them. If you don't drop them probably no issue (someone was looking at bumpers for keeping things quiet - not sure if it was OP).

I have the same set but have to keep them outside due to the off gassing. That Harbor Freight/Chinese chemical smell is pretty much my least favorite thing ever. They are a little better after cleaning and I'll cook them in the sun once it warms up a little to see if it helps. Not a huge deal to bring them in and out but I'll probably get rid of them if I can't keep them in the house by next winter.
How are yours?

i have mdusa econ bumpers and they're fine. AFAIK they're on par with rogue and all the other ones. there was a noticeable smell when unboxing them but it went away after awhile. i have a big basement so maybe that helps, if your area is smaller you may set them in a garage or outside away from the elements to help get rid of that smell.
IIRC you're getting bumpers to minimize noise right? lifting under your son's bedroom?
keep in mind a drop isn't going to be quiet regardless of bumpers or iron.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

I think it must be another poster who wants the bumpers so that it's quiet.
I am getting these coz I think I like the idea of a bumper than iron dropping on the floor.
So far based on Dimicron's Cheapo thread I have decided to get the
1. Rep fitness rack. Would have bought Titan t3 but don't want to deal with bolting to the floor etc.
2.CAP OB barbell
3. Rep fitness adjustable bench I need a bench to incline otherwise would have gotten a flat.
4. 260lbs weight - thought would get iron first from dicks $200 then thought I can pay a little more and get the bumpers.
I do like the OFW contrast bumpers, much cheaper than the rogue colored ones.

i replaced my cheap set of plates with econ bumpers, so i think you'll be happy with it. but i will say i'm very happy that i recently got a set of iron plates and plan to use them as my main work plates once i get them cleaned up.
if budget is a concern, i'd get iron first.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

They smell, but I dont know...it doesnt bother me at all.
Must be all the permanent markers I sniffed as a kid...lol.
Honestly, alot of people are going to say go with the Echos cuz its Rogue. And apparently Rogue is the be all, end all.
But the echos are the budget bumpers. The Ofw's are more comparable to the HG 2.0s....not the echos. Plus, they have barbs built into the insert to keep from falling out.
And as already stated, a better warranty.
Do some research on them and u will see that they are much better than the echos....on paper at least.
I cannot speak from first hand experience.
Just going off of what I found when doing my own research and why I chose them.

I'm currently comparing the Rogue HG 2.0 and Fringe OFW. To be honest, I'm leaning towards the OFW. They are nearly equivalent $$/lb, however, they're accurate weight +/- 10 grams compared to the HGs which are +/- 1%.
My bar is already from Rogue and I will eventually be getting a Rogue rack. The only reason to get Rogue bumper plates at this point is to keep everything I have from a single supplier unless anyone has any other reasons, which I'm very open to.

Warranty on 10-15s is 1 year with free return shipping, no questions asked on the OFW plates. Rogue is 90 days.
The Ofws are also much thinner so you can fit more on the bar. Which could make a huge difference if your complete set is comprised of all bumpers. The Ofw 45s are 2.9 while Rogues are 3.25. Echos are even thicker.
Everything at Ofw ships free and pretty fast. Have to buy 3 sets of 2.0 to qualify for free shipping from Rogue.
That should say it all.
But most will get Rogue cuz they say Rogue on them....and brand name is too important.
My bad...just checked. The Echos are not thicker than the 2.0. Theyre the same...3.25.Last edited by kllrbee; 04-02-2016 at 09:30 AM.
