(First time posting here I apologize if I formatted incorrectly)
Hey people, I am a high school junior (11th grade). I am 5-11, and weigh 125 pounds. I have been skinny all my life and I have been told that I have a very fast metabolism. I just recently (3 months) started to try and gain weight and muscle. When I started 3 months ago I was 120 pounds. For around 3 months, I have gone to the gym every Monday-Wednesday-Friday and have only gained 5 pounds total and my body is just very skinny looking still. I am eating more than I did before this three months but it seems if I eat a lot, I will just go to the bathroom and release all that I just ate. At the gym I have school trainers who help out anyone who needs help, so my form isn't a problem. I do a workout that is used for students who are on the wrestling team (I don't do wrestling just use their workout). Just looking for some tips to gain weight from anyone who had to deal with this problem. The workout part is not really an issue just trying to gain muscle. I take Whey protein after every workout but the problem is the muscle just does not have anything to grow off of. No extra fat, no extra muscle.

Ditch the whey and eat more; it is that simple. If you are not gaining weight, eat more, and eat even more, keep doing that until gaining 2-3 pounds a month.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

You need to eat more, consistently, every day. peanut butter, full fat milk, eggs, beans. All easy and cheap ways to get in extra calories.
"Fast metabolism" is usually said by misinformed people who don't realize you aren't eating enough and/or you're highly active. Both can contribute to a negative energy balance.
