I got so much man. I'm ripped on my medicinal hippie lettuce.
I started off out of school with an MS in structural geology, worked in oil and gas for two years.
Then got out of oil and gas, and have for the past 6 years, been an environmental consultant for EPA and MDEQ.Opeth, Vai, and Lamb of God enthusiast.

My base salary is 92k. I've been doing this for 8 years now (I'm 30).
I work 40hrs a week now. I hardly do any field work anymore. I make my own hours within the firm. I get my work done, so nobody gives a chit where I am.
Yes I enjoy it. The technical side of consulting is what I love. Pure objective science. Fuking companies like Bosch and Dow Chemical over, is a plus.
Yes, when you start off as a geologist, you primarily perform field work. The higher you progress, the less you are in the field.Opeth, Vai, and Lamb of God enthusiast.

No, I've never heard of ASBOG.
I am talking about dual-air rotary rigs. Most commonly used in hard rock formations.
Here in Michigan, we just use direct-push geoprobe systems or sonic rigs. Easy mode. I taught myself how to operate geoprobes. Fun as fuk to stand ontop of it and use the remote control. Glacial till logging is poverty.Opeth, Vai, and Lamb of God enthusiast.
