Then got out of oil and gas, and have for the past 6 years, been an environmental consultant for EPA and MDEQ.

The only water I drink is tap water-- tell me how right I am when I say tap water is better for you than bottled water. I do boil my water and refrigerate... so any impurities should be expelled.

The scary thing is, I can't tell you if tap water is better. I'd have to test it. Do not trust the government (obviously).

The cheapest way for someone to test their own water at home for inorganics is a colorimetric kit.

My base salary is 92k. I've been doing this for 8 years now (I'm 30).

I work 40hrs a week now. I hardly do any field work anymore. I make my own hours within the firm. I get my work done, so nobody gives a chit where I am.

Yes I enjoy it. The technical side of consulting is what I love. Pure objective science. Fuking companies like Bosch and Dow Chemical over, is a plus.

Yes, when you start off as a geologist, you primarily perform field work. The higher you progress, the less you are in the field.

I hear ya on working on rigs. I spent months out in Wyoming and ND with roughneck fuks.

In Idaho one of the drillers died infront of my crew. His arm got caught in the auger of the rig, which has 2 million ft lbs of torque.

No, the ASBOG test for getting your geologist in training certificate. If you have your PG I assume you had to take it as well, correct?

No, I've never heard of ASBOG.

I am talking about dual-air rotary rigs. Most commonly used in hard rock formations.

Here in Michigan, we just use direct-push geoprobe systems or sonic rigs. Easy mode. I taught myself how to operate geoprobes. Fun as fuk to stand ontop of it and use the remote control. Glacial till logging is poverty.
