Thanks guys.
Paddling against the current gets the better me sometimes. This restaurant business will chew you up hard. Not really sure how much I got left for it anymore and its a hard pill to swallow. I would be a happier, saner person if I just quit and did something else. Got employees to think of though, will work through the crap the best that I can. Doesn't help the the hormonal emotional bullshiit is running full force. And the little thing with the lack of sleep which is a symptom of my stress.
I did a little stress eating but nipped it before things got out of hand. Its helped me just writing the small entry this morning. And the support from my fellow loggers*Trying to stay sane and get back to avi status.

Escaped the day with under 1800 calories. I was able to control my emotional eating. Considering the mental state I was in this morning I will take the calorie total gladly. Funny though after the upsetting incident my immediate though was to eat a danish. Back in the day it would have been cigarettes. The thought of smoking did cross my mind. I would never go there again but I do remember the sense of calm it brought me.
No real threat of me eating tonight. I was busy today and frankly feeling pretty exhausted. Not to mention I smell of hamburgers and sweat. Good thing I don't have to go to the store tonight, I look and smell utterly frightening.*Trying to stay sane and get back to avi status.

I could eat like four bananas for the cost of one danish. I have to train my mind. I have replaced many a stress behavior, each getting progressively less harmful. Its taken like 30 years but but a girl can still try.
That immediate mindlessness of the stress eating, I need to break that mindlessness, think, breathe, that's the tricky part.*Trying to stay sane and get back to avi status.

March 31st
Got to bed late but slept hard. Head is pretty fluffy. Super hungry of course. My protein has been severely lacking over the last two days, like under 80 grams. That needs to be corrected. I kind of fell off the nutrition wagon here, not good for over all wellness. Devoured two burgers for breakfast. Large calorie load but 71 grams of protein, more than I got in the whole day yesterday. Waiting for the food energy to hit. Pretty tired and I don't think either the coffee nor my stack will do me much good.
This was my breakfast yesterday before my meltdown, hot dogs, egg whites, potatoes, peppers.
goals
*130 grams of protein

I know you don't like protein powders very much...
This morning I was in a big hurry to leave for work... Had no time to eat anything, so I dumped two scoops of powder in a shaker, some cold water w/crushed ice, and had that in the way to work.
Not the same as food, I know, but not bad for getting some calories and Protein in there for the morning, as the day gets started.
Just sayin' this 'cause you said you needed to up your protein numbers.
No?

^^^
I don't find it hard hitting my protein number. Its just right now I am craving sugar and fat so in the battle of the macros protein is last on my mind.
I know I am the odd duck around here with powders but I find them all nasty in shake form. Odd texture and flavor both. I would rather eat plain egg whites than drink a protein powder. Though it may come down today chugging down some of the nasty to get numbers ups but I will hate every second of it.*Trying to stay sane and get back to avi status.

I need to tattoo this on myself lol.
Stressed out? FOOD
Happy? FOOD
Angry? FOOD
BORED? FOOD
It seems like you're going a lot with work, you got this though
I feel the same way about protein shakes of just powder and water/milk.
They taste okay blended up with eggs/ice/fats though.
Tastes like a frappe or frosty.
Have you ever tried banana + egg pancakes?
I haven't but I saw some recipe to blend the two together and it ended up looking exactly like a real pancake.
Cravings for sweets are always what get me too...

Speaking of protein powders...
My new most favorite way to have a healthy snack:
• 1 cup fat free Greek yogurt
• 1 scoop (whatever) protein powder
• 1/2 tsp cocoa powder (if powder is vanilla)
• 1 serving roasted peanuts (about 28g)
Mix very well until smooth.
Freeze for 30 minutes.
Oldest daughter had a taste of it and totally loves it. She now makes it for herself every day. About 55g of Protein in that bowl. Not bad, and the taste is awesome.
I have a large tub of chocolate-flavored Champion Performance protein powder on the way. Can't wait to try it like this. No need for cocoa powder there

No it was good advice. I did not really explain why I was not hitting my numbers.
Doesn't the yogurt freeze weird with such a low fat content? Would try minus the powder.
LOL right! Strong emotion=food.
Work, that is my personal struggle. It kind of sucks that work also equals food for me.

Sorry you're going through a rough time with stress. I've been in that boat, and trying to chug along myself, and not emotionally eating can be really hard. Way to push though and keep trying. You recognize those patterns, and stop them in their tracks. Even if you miss some protein, you're still doing your best to do your best. That's what matters.

Meh, I hate protein powder, too. I literally NEVER consume it and I seem to do just fine--often go over my protein macro just because I like the taste of meat and eggs, in fact (I also rarely eat dairy, because it's a PITA to take a lactaid pill whenever I want some). It seems to me your set macro for protein is actually on the high side, though? My nutritionist says that even when I'm cutting, 90-100 grams is fine for me, and I'm somewhat larger than you are. My appetite generally leads me to eat more like 120 anyhow. IDK. Is there a reason for the very high protein you're consuming? You might be happier with more of those calories in carbs, especially fibrous carbs since those seem to = satiety for you. Or fats since you like the taste.

Its stopping that is the hard part. My eyes glaze over and thinking goes out the window. But yes I do recognize this. Sometimes it is wiser to go with the cravings I think especially when feeling weak willed.
Retirement. No I need to learn to handle my stress better.
And yes, care to share the recipe for the cake.
I did set it high today. My thinking was to buffer the number up since the last two days were pitiful. Really I am fine with the 100-110 gram range right now since my calories are not that low. I do find when I go through low uber low calorie periods that the higher number aids in recovery. And yes I am way happier with higher carb amount. Probably set myself up for failure with trying to hit the higher number today when it wasn't really necessary.Last edited by phoenix4444; 03-31-2016 at 02:12 PM. Reason: cant spell for shiit

Cake Recipe
It will need some manipulating based on the protein powder itself, but here's the base recipe
1 scoop protein powder
1 egg
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp sweetener
1 tbsp fat (It can be substituted with apple sauce, greek yogurt, or a roasted banana)
1/4 tsp baking powder (the recipe I found said 1/2 tsp but it pretty much blew up in my microwave)
1 dash salt
If the mixture looks a bit dry, you can add a little milk or water.
Either pour the mix into a microwavable bowl or a large mug and microwave for about a minute. You'll need to play with the time a little bit, but I would start with 1 minute because you can add time to a cake, you can't un cook a dry cake.
I used greek yogurt the first time, a banana the second time, and greek yogurt+ oil the third time. IMO, the banana was the most delicious one.
I've also used different protein powders. My favorite to use for this is myprotein cinnamon bun (it's also cheap). I used Dymatize cake batter, which didn't come out so well, unfortunately. It could have been how I made the cake as well, so I'll try it again another day with a banana. You can't help the hopeless.

How dare you???
I REALLY go over sometimes, because I like BOTH protein powder AND eggs/meat.
A couple days ago I hit 300g Protein.
Not on purpose though, and I try not to go so high.
Again...
How dare you???

What amazes me is how all of us have such different tastes and preferences, and how we all make it work for ourselves. I love that part!

@partyrocking
That is a righteous microwave cake recipe!
NoCarbs you gotta try it.
My results with this fab recipe. I used coconut whey/casein mix, with greek yogurt, egg whites, and a little soy milk. Carmelized banana, waldens farm pancake syrup over and oh yeah little whipped cream and chocolate syrup
I usually don't like adding protein to a recipe because of texture issues. The texture was actually quite pleasing.
It was awesome!!!! Thanks for sharing.Last edited by phoenix4444; 03-31-2016 at 12:44 PM.
