yeah he's an interesting lottery ticket, but i'm thinking he'll probably get overdrafted by someone in the 6th or 7th chasing dem WR2 stats

In the free Yahoo public league I did as a fancy mock Josh Gordon went 10.09 (99th overall, standard scoring, 3WR). I took him. I wasn't going to but late tenth round as my 6th WR why not eh. That (~100th overall) seems to be roughly at ADP

If I want a reliable RB1 out of those guys I take Lacy. If I want to have fun with it I take my man Ingram.

My thoughts? If I end up drafting Brady I'm grabbing Gordon, and vice-versa. My thought is if I'm banking on the second half of my season I might as well get after it.

take bell while you're at it

but you can minimilize risk drafting Brady by taking Carr/Stafford later. They both have very easy schedules to start and should be serviceable until he comes back

he's not exciting for sure but you know if they're in the RZ he's punching it in 80% of the time

started catching more passes last season too

Drafting Bell and Brady would be a legit combo. Come championship time, those are the guys that will win you the ship. If I had early second round pick, I wouldn't hesitate taking Bell. He is one of the best backs in the league.

The Freeman hate has gone too far too.

He's going back to catch 60 passes and gets the touches in the red zone.

He won't bust....even if he doesn't come close to what he did last year

I don't like Rawls, either, but I do put Freeman in the same tier as Anderson or Murray in my rankings.
Thats what I keep reading about. Everyone has a feeling that he wont be the guy this year, but what evidence is there to show for that? Its just feeeeeeeelings. I dunno. Its started to creep on me too but I cant really explain it. Thsoe feeeeeelings could also go to a guy like DMT - but he's being taken as a WR1 with a completely new offensive scheme and we dont even know who his qb will be. I think thats kinda unfair, also - considering something like 80/1200/8 is the guys average - and that includes Tebow throwing to him. If ever I had a bad feel about a player it was Anderson last year, and I think he's way overdrafted this year so I'm not immune to it.

Yeah, his 4 game stretch was amazing and unsustainable, but look at the other games. Like I said, only 3 weeks of less than 10 points. Thats stupid consistent. Of course he'll regress - and he can afford to do so at more than his ADP.

Going with your gut is important, but never before have I seen so many people trusting their gut in a negative way with so little evidence for it. To the contrary, you've got plenty of guys that people have feeeeeeelings of upside with no proof at all. People act like Freeman only played in those 4 games.

I'm not a Gordon believer, but look at it this way: who else can you draft in the 8th round that has the potential to finish as a top 5 WR?

thing is all these other backs listed with Freeman have the potential to do what he does, but they don't have another back breathing down their neck (Sims maybe for Martin)

I wouldn't mind having Freeman on my squad, but I do think Coleman will get more involved this year. Falcons offense as a whole should do better this year and Coleman could very well fumble/get injured and all of a sudden Freeman is the lone dog again

I feel like drafting DeAngelo is a MUST if you're taking Bell. Overpay if needed, but having that security lowers your risk

i think drafting deangelo is a must in general. bell or not. get a guy you can start for 3 weeks and then stash or trade afterward. he's a legit RB1 whenever he starts and you're getting him cheap.

you figure 3-4 weeks into the season somebody will be hurt by then. you have time to replace him. or trade him to the guy who has bell.

sorry I meant if you own Bell you're taking DeAngelo a couple rounds early to make sure he doesn't get snagged before you can handcuff him to Bell.

Im picking 11/12 and theres a good change Bell is there after the turn. How do you NOT take him? I'm hoping that Miller or AP falls to me at 11. Possible as I KNOW a potato or two will take a QB in the first round. Happens every year.

I just hate that I have to invest a 6th round pick to get Dwill. I mean, at what point does a second round pick + a mid round pick = the 1 he would have been taken at? Seems like a lot of draft capital, but then again Bell is Bell

Lets be real tea. In fantasy opportunity >>>> talent. I dont see a huge talent gap there. They were graded about the same coming out of college and have similar measurables.

Why would the team take a guy that they leaned on heavily last year with great success, and all of a sudden put him in a worse situation? He's also great in pass protection, so he's in on third and long situations as well as early downs. I'd bet that if Freeman played those four games and got hurt, he'd be a first rounder this year. However, he goes on to put up a great statline overall throughout the rest of the season and people doubt his consistency.

I guess I've just never been sold on Coleman, maybe thats why the anti-freeman hysteria doesnt make sense to me.

We'll see how it shakes out soon, but I'm willing to bet Freeman finishes better in relation to his adp than coleman. A 9th round flier is a low cost insurance, policy though.

Heres a question: say you take Freeman, do you reach on coleman?

Doug Martin was top RB one season and then people were down on him for his next year because of consistency and big games propping up the total. It didn't work out if you took Doug.

Being great the season before, for all kinds of reasons, obviously doesn't mean all that much a lot of the time

No i don't think he is a good handcuff imo. Specially with his ADP. If you take freeman you roll the dice on freeman.

I said earlier in the thread i expect to see a 60/40 split in carries come later in hte season (about half way mark) i follow the falcons closely and Quinn/Shanahan love colemans ability to make plays. He does however have a fumbling issue.

Now that they added Sanu, hardy is in his 2nd year id expect Freemans catch total to decrease.

That year Dougie Fresh got 1/3 of his fantasy points from 2 games.

If you ignore Freeman's two highest scoring weeks, he finishes with 246 fantasy points in PPR last year - at 15.375 points per game (assuming he gets zero points during the two weeks we arent counting his score).

He still outscores every RB in the league except for AP (by 2 points). As for the consistency? Again, only 3 weeks of <10 fps

Inb4 I dont end up with freeman in any of my leagues. Not even that high on him like I said, but the hysteria isn't based in facts.

    No he didn't lol

That year you could totally and arbitrarily throw out the top and bottom two games of every RB and he was still I think top 5 but definitely top 10

Big play overreliance: Last year, Martin scored one-third of his fantasy points in two games: Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings and Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders.

It's close, but <1/3. Let's take a wider look at this. I doug up my old post. This is for Martin's rookie season of course. I see no reason whatsoever, and never did, to just randomly and arbitrarily throw away two weeks in which a single player basically guaranteed you a win. But let's say that we do that.

Originally Posted by Farley1324 View Post

Okay, let's do this. I'm going to take the top ten RB's, standard scoring, rounded to nearest whole number.

    Peterson: 309 (points)
    Foster: 265
    Martin: 265
    Lynch: 251
    Morris: 246
    Rice: 222
    Spiller: 218
    Charles: 211
    Richardson: 204
    Ridley: 203

Now, the two highest scoring games for each of these RB's, added together, are (no rounding)

    Peterson: 63.4
    Foster: 51
    Martin: 84.6
    Lynch: 55.8
    Morris: 60.8
    Rice: 44.4
    Spiller: 54.4
    Charles: 63.8
    Richardson: 45.9
    Ridley: 43.8

Using that, let's level the playing field. Let's re-order the top ten RB's from last season without using each of their top 2 performances.

    Peterson: 245.6
    Foster: 214
    Lynch: 195.2
    Morris: 185.2
    Martin: 180.4
    Rice: 177.6
    Spiller: 163.6
    Ridley: 159.2
    Richardson: 158.1
    Charles: 147.2

So there you have it. Take away each of the top ten RB's top two games and Doug Martin still finishes as RB5. As a rookie. Oh, and Charles finishes at the very bottom of this list as RB10.

Doug Martin still RB5 in standard scoring even if you totally ignore the two weeks he won the match up for you by himself.
