    I am so confused

I am 41, 5'7" and weigh 181. I have been on a 40/40/20 diet of 1600 calories. I rarely cheat cause when I do I feel guilty, lol. I lift M-W-F, Yoga and kickboxing T-Th, and HIIT cardio on Sat or Sun depending on how I feel that day.

I have read so many different things on nutrition and exercise. So many splits! When I started, approx. 3 weeks ago, I wore a size 16 pants and weighed 184. I now can wear a 14, but they are a little snug and the 16's are baggy. I think this is probably normal weight loss. But it seem s like the inches have really slowed down in coming off!

I eat 5 to 6 times a day. Carbs of fruits and veggies with lots of fiber. Meats, mostly chicken and tuna. Rarely eat beef. Drink whey protein shakes.

Does this sound like I am doing ok? Everything I do, I do with vengeance.

You sound like you are doing really well! I would recommend you add in more cardio though if you are trying to lose weight. Do a 20-30min session after your weights and try to add in another day of HIIT

LOL It depends on your goals.

You may have it a plateau on the diet. Try some up days (high carb) then back down to your original breakdown.

Yes MsFit is right. If you are trying to gain muscle, it is best to leave your weights on their own. I am actually doing the Rock Hard Challenge at the moment which is weights followed by 30 or so mins of intervals

    - Skip the fruit (or take in no more than 1-2 servings/day) and replace it with fibrous carbs such as oatmeal.

    - Don't be afraid of beef. Fat doesn't make you fat.
    Add some salmon as well.

Typically I only eat 2 fruits a day. Usually a banana in the am and a granny smith apple or green pear in the afternoon. Breakfast is always 1c oatmeal with splenda to sweeten it. I am afraid of beef! lol Any time I eat beef, it takes almost my entire fat allowance. Even if it is 97/3! I know fat doesn't make you fat, but the saturated fat is way bad for me.

Sometimes I don't get in my entire 1600 cal either, cause I have to work (unfortunately). I always bring something to work with me, but not a "meal"

    Thanks for all the info.

Saturated fat is not as bad as the health care industry and media makes it out to be. It's actually essential in limited amounts. Trans-Fat is the culprit when it comes to bad fat choices.

Mother Nature won't give us dangerous food (beef, fish, eggs.....) When man modifies food, then it becomes a risk. (fries and other junk fat)
