I bought a ring off e-bay for $1300, ripped the diamond out and put it in a setting that I'll pay $1100-1200 for. Diamond appraised at about $3K and the setting retails for $2200. The setting that the diamond was in before I took it out was fake gold lol.

Appraised at $4800, real value probably like $3200-3500, I paid about $2500.
