    Trouble with my macros

    Hi all

I have been training for about a year but never really tracked what I was eating. But last week I decided to take it seriously and track my macros. I downloaded the myfitnesspal app on my phone and have entered all my food for the day but I keep finding myself going over my overall calories by about 200 at the end of the day but im still under with my protein facts and carbs.

I'm finding this so frustrating as I seem to be spending so much time trying to adjust my food to fit.

Does anyone else have this problem trying to get everything to fit?

My ratio is 50% protein 30%carbs 20% fats.

I currently weigh 97kg and want to get down to 90kg just to lose a bit of belly fat. I have cut calories by 500.

I am just a beginner so no stupid comments please I just need some guidance.

    Thanks

Your problems is your are using ratios. This is an unnecessary complication.

Just set minimum levels for protein (2g/kg of bodyweight) and fat (1g/kg) (which you can go over) - hit your calorie target and let carbs fall where they may

So does that mean that my protein intake for the day should be 194kg if I weigh 97kg and fats just 97kg?

No, protein and fat have minimums you need to reach; having more is fine.

Whatever number works for you, carbs are preferential and do not have a target.

Not exactly. If you want to eat that way its fine, but by no means do you have to if you enjoy carbs.

Doesn't 1g/kg for fat seem a bit too much?, I thought fats should be around 20% when cutting

Macro percentages are outdated and not accurate.

Well seen as no one has given me a straight answer. I know I was told to go with 1g/kg for fat but all I asked was isn't that too high

Refer to post #5, as your question was answered directly. You were just too lazy to read it.

Can you stop making so many informative/hilarious posts for a short time because I'm still on spread but owe you like 100 more reps. Lol

OP, listen to all this, and stop asking so many questions, this thread could be closed right now and you'd already have more than enough information to be successful.

My apologies, you're right, no one directly answered. They did tell you how much in the first place though. They meant it. Really. Srs.
