    Accessory Work for More Pushups?

    Title says it...

I know for bodyweight exercises people often say the best way to do more is to do more, but my question is can I benefit from doing tricep work (pushdowns, dips) or chest flyes after I do pushups? My goal isn't to build muscle, just get stronger.

These two things are strongly linked. More muscle=greater capacity for strength.

Push ups are not a great strength builder as its hard to add progressive overload, which is an essential component in getting stronger. You can add weight on your back, raise your legs etc. A bench press is easier to add weight too. Not that press ups are ever useless.

I should've mentioned this but I need to do more pushups for the military.

Increasing tricep strength would definitely help you to do more pushups. Pushups can get you stronger but there are more efficient things to do. I think it is most beneficial to do pushups after a typical chest workout. I go for about 300 or so in as few sets as I can get.
