I though it would be interesting to see of those that celebrate Lent what they are planning to give up. Since we are all focused on a healthy lifestyle, eating right, working out, what is left to choose?
Let's see.....

Seriously considering giving up 2 things.
#1, reading threads about Lent since I don't give a rats ass about it.
#2. actually thinking Mikie might come around and stop being a whiny douche.
That about covers it"You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

I was always told to give up candy for lent as a kid LOL
Not sure if I want to give up anything, maybe butter, my kryptonite
But the pope is calling less for giving up thing and more for doing things for others so for me, I want to spend more time really doing more for some of my kids at school. I teach in an urban school and have some kids that are truly living challenging lives (free and reduced lunch, barely speaking english, barely making it to class and struggling all day) so I want to work more purposely to help those kids succeed or find them the help they need.** Marie **

In my early years I had a drug problem,
I was always, drug to church, drug to sunday school. drug to communion, drug to confession, drug through lent etc...
So now in my older years, I have seen the light and don't do religion any more.
I did see another thread tho, where some lady gave up her orgasm's,
hard to top that one.Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

I use the gender neutral pronouns "Fukker/Fukkers" a lot.

I tell it like it is, if you want smoke blown up your ass or something sugar coated. I suggest you get a Hooker and a powdered donut.

I gotta go with Borkie (not Catholic or anything btw)
I think Jeezuz would be much more proud of his fans if they just WERE GOOD PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME vs making some self-imposed "sacrifice" for 40 days.
I'm pretty sure he just wanted us to live by The Golden Rule. You know, that do unto others thing. But do it ALL the time. Not just Feb-April.
I honestly don't think he GAF if Johnny or Susie give up roller skating on Friday nights.Sheriff John Brown always hated me

Every time I plant a seed
He said kill them before they grow

Yesterday somebody at work told me that for Lent I should give up being a grumpy old man. I told them to go *%&$ themselves! It's taken me many years and a whole lot of hard work to get this grumpy!
It is never a wise thing to suggest what another should give up for Lent. They might just give up that steadfast resistance to the urge to run over your sorry *%& in the parking lot!Last edited by paolo59; 02-10-2016 at 04:45 PM.
