Was discussing this hypothetical question with some friends. I was the only one who didn't believe it's a big deal and that people would love him if he was just your simple easy going guy willing to partake in group activities, lunches, drinks and sight-seeing, they would admire his life experience, lulzy stories and youthful attitude i.e. desires to see the world, go out and drink, and that he actively took the step to leave the industry and wants to make the most of life regardless of age. The rest of my friends thought it was strange and that he was a failure because he isn't settled down with a wife and kids at that age. And that people would see him as "that guy who's 34 and backpacking in hostels and partying with kids, what a catastrophic failure." What are your thoughts misc?
Cliffs on hypothetical guy:
- 34 years old
- Quit his job as a senior Consultant at a Big 4 firm
- $1.5 million US dollars in the bank
- 10 years experience working 14 hour days on weekdays & 5 on weekends (80 hours)
- 16 to 24 hobbies were traveling, poker, movies, golf, tennis, cooking foreign cuisine and chess
- 6 foot tall
- 215 pounds
- 15% body fat (decent body but not shredded) - looks good in a t-shirt
- 7.75/10 facial aesthetics
- Extrovert: drink most nights with bankers, very confident, funny, easy to get on with
- Ambitions: start a business, travel the world for 1 year+ staying in hostels, write a novel, climb Everest
- Eventually wants to settle down & have kids (marriage is optional, is happy to adopt)
Is 34 too old to be staying in hostels and partying, drinking and seeking adventures traveling the world and meeting new people mainly students and young adults?

spent a lot of time in hostels over the past 6 months and i'd say you'll be fine if youre genuine
however if you're "that" older guy whos obv just trying to get laid people will be avoiding you and think you're a creep. not saying you cant get laid but dont be that weird guy who's clearly just there for the puss. people will start talking shiit and avoiding you quickly

Nah, I get what he is saying.
I won't go clubbing in certain areas because it's mainly filled with uni aged adults. And in comparison to the way they act, feel old.
IME the generation difference is real, and I get along the best with people from my own generation. I'm an immature 31 year old, but 18-22 year olds seem like they are on another planet to me.If You Don't Like To Talk About Your Feelings, This Might Help...

Bro, in the OP I clearly said that passions of the person are travelling but working 10 years as a senior Consultant doing 80 hours, couldn't take the time out to do it. But his intentions are genuinely to explore the world, see all the sights, meet new people and have a good time, not going out to "seek" sex/sloots.
