Been of the opinion that Pete should move up to at least 242s if not 275s for a couple of years, glad to see him put on some weight and smash huge numbers.

Straps or not, ungodly strong.

Hard for me to understand why he doesn't put more weight on given his height. I'd be willing to bet his squat and bench would go up a fair amount if he was 275.

It's a tough balancing act. When I put on weight my squat goes up a bit, my bench shoots up, and my deadlift suffers. If you gain too fast it changes your balance for deadlift which changes your form, and makes you drop some weight off the bar.

Pete's one of my favorite lifters and one of the guys that really got me into powerlifting. I really want to see him hit a big deadlift this next meet and I think if he can stay healthy he's gonna put one up.

I would certainly hope he knows that. It was a serious question. I think he'll go 816 or 821. 35-40 lbs. is a lot especially when I haven't really seen him working on his limiting factor.

Yeah, he actually just addressed that:

Doing a full power meet where you're fatigued at the end and having to pull then and not being able to use straps and lifting on calibrated kilo plates, which are very thin and cut down the whip off the ground... All of those factors will make pull considerably tougher than these strapped pulls that you're seeing from me in training, so it's not like I'm gonna go out there and pull 880 in the meet.

880 right now, possibly have 9 in me with straps, in training, that would put me at 830-850 in the meet, if I'm being realistic.

Edit: Also says he's been working on grip this entire meet prep, hit a DOH PR of 500 lbs and that his grip is stronger now than going into his last meet where he missed 810 but not due to grip.

He is too tall to get the 220 coan record (plus that was done in a full meet) but anything over 893 at 242 is a world record.
