Intra-workout Carbs Recommendation (Carbion/Glycofuse/Karbolic)

I'm a big fan of using carbs during a workout. For the past 6 months or so I've been using Cytosport's Cytomax getting around 20-40g of carbs from glucose/maltodextrin/fructose and their other proprietary carb and having really good results in the gym. But, I have a dietary allergy to fructose and it's giving me problems trying to continue to use it.

So, I've been looking around at the competitors on the market. I was looking for something that's basically like a sports drink replacement, with added electrolytes along with the carbs. The main ones I'm seeing are Carbion, Glycofuse, Karbolic or Power Carb which use a blend of different carbs I'm not familiar with that well. So, I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on these products or anything else you have tried and like. The main things I'm trying to avoid is anything that tastes bad or a weird flavor (obviously) and anything that causes cramping. I'm trying to avoid sucrose and fructose as well, so I'm game to try any of the fancy new carbs being sold as long as they fit that criteria..

Gatorade might work. It's glucose + electrolytes + tastes good + no prob digesting.

I have used the Gatorade PERFORM powder. better than fruit juice in a pinch, but I was seeing better endurance off of other choices.

Gatorade is not in the league of a HBCD carb. All these products that are being discussed have one major thing in common. Its HBCD.

As I mentioned in the first post, I can't have fructose or sucrose. Otherwise, Gatorade would be just fine for my needs. I've tried the G2 in the past, and it's basically just less fructose and sucrose but then sweetened with splenda.

Honestly, I would be happy if someone just made a 50/50 mix of maltodextrin and dextrose along with electrolytes. That would be perfect. Flavoring could be optional, otherwise I could just throw in some Koolaid powder.

For now, I'm going to try drinking coconut water as my intra and see how it works.

Was using carbion from
Allmax really helped pumps and endurance, energy. I also like nutrabolics waxybolic (new formula) although I am biased but so far enjoying the new flavoring.
INTRA MD looks solid, other than that mabye Gatorade powder? Bio steel makes a good intra product aswell although I don't have the label to post up as I'm on mobile mabye check them out.

Karbolyn is what I am using intra right now + Amino IV.

No GI issues or any stomach discomfort from Karbolyn. I would like to give something with HBCD a try for a solid run to compare.

Ive been using Cutler Total Carb. its an HBCD. I used this mixed with AE Intrabolic. I like to work out on a mostly empty stomach. This combo works for me.

Tasteless, great mixibility. Price is a little steep for me. I bought it for $30, it was 20% off plus a 10% off coupon. For $30 ($.50/serving) I would rebuy, 100%. At $45, its to steep for me, Id rather another tub of PES protein.

Only issue I have with Total Carb is that it is a prop. You actually don't know how many of the listed 25g of carbs are HBCD.

Karbolyn is what I am using intra right now + Amino IV.

When I use karbolyn I also mix it with a BCAA product and I mix beta alanine with it also.

I bought a bunch of different ones recently, and am giving them all a go for the first time, Glycofuse is one of them so I can't speak on it yet. I did use Carbion, but that was a few years ago and would like to go back to it again and see if I appreciate it more now as an intra.

I second what KDD said, would love to get you a tub of Intra-MD and get your honest feedback on it.

I mainly use them when training fasted (missed meal, university etc.) or when my workout lasts for 1.5h.
Allmax carbion wasn't bad either.

Also, if there are any reps for these companies around and see this, do you guys have any samples for these? You would love Carbion. I personally prefer a multi source carb product.

Carbion is very easy in the stomach. No bloat and digests very easily.

IF you have to use carbs nothing touches cyclic dextrin

if you want to have the GOAT intra use sustamine/TAG (metabolic nutrition sells this) with EAA's and some kaged hydra charge = goat or just the TAG with hydra charge

I always find diabetics' choices in carb products interesting. How does Carbion affect your glucose? I know HBCD doesn't spike insulin but the other 75% should be interesting.

Just randomly got more samples from you guys and the Orange Mango Super Carb is pretty damn good. I loved the Raspberry Lemonade.

Not a huge fan of intra carbs for your standing 60-90 minute workout. If you are marathoning your workouts, then maybe.

That being said I used to use Karbolyn prior to my Sheiko sessions which lasted upwards of two hours and felt it to be a tremendous benefit to my endurance throughout the workout. Tastes damn good too!

I have used every single one out there, CarbION is hands down the best... quite versatile,easy on stomach and WORKS!! intra,post,pre,etc... even just in a mid day shake!
dieting,bulkung,pl... you name it... it is basically a year round staple with the exception of 1-2 months... I usually use the unflavored,however the Key Lime Cherry is quite excellent!!

I been using the Super Carb you sent me for the past 2 weeks. Using it @ 2 scoops intra. I would say it is working as well if not better than Glycofuse. I feel my pumps and endurance are up and longer lasting. It is mixing a bit better as well, blends right into what BCAA/EAA I add it too.

I also used the Intra Blast samples both Orange Mango and Fruit Punch. I actually found the Fruit Punch to be better tasting as I didn't care for the after taste of Orange Mango.

I would recommend this to anyone that uses HBCD's and will be purchasing in the future. Thank you again for letting me try this, you gained a customer out of it.
