I would've been well on my way there but I've basically quit benching because nothing injures me as frequently and consistently as bench. My shoulders feel way better with overhead pressing. I'm gonna pick benching back up for a couple weeks to put up a crappy submission for this contest, though because I was the only 275+ to even submit a video in the deadlift comp.

I was hoping Malak was going to be benching for this one and that would have put you two in the same class. But since he is retired, you might actually be the only 275+ competitor for a while.

Congrats on the weight loss and being healthy (sig)...a lot of us definitely lose sight of the health aspect of this lifestyle. I was definitely hoping you'd be in this one again to help motivate me and the other guys to push it to that 500 mark. I remember Arn710 wasn't too far away last time. I would have liked to have shot for that but with injury, I may be a cheerleader as well.

What got me was the lack of heavy weights in both the mens and the womens last time. I had 5 spots in the heaviest weight class for women and it gave me a sad to see all those prizes that were gonna stay on the shelves

lol I was hoping to be in the 275 Class this time around but I could not keep going after I hit a bodyweight of 240. I just got too sluggish, too fat, and it was harder to do what I needed to do at work. Now if I play a little with my weight I can switch between the 242 class or the 220 class

Also mr. Gorilla, am I eligible for supp prizes in Aus? I never got anything after the deadlift comp but I was not sure if I wasn't eligible or if I messed something up (like am I meant to enter my address somewhere or send a pm?). If not eligible I hope the prizes went to the next guy

I realize my spotter was a bit quick with the reach but I can assure you he did not touch the bar. I hope that's clear enough in the video. Not trying to scam anyone

I sometimes have that problem too... except with 200lbs less on the bar. As long as you get the lift and don't get hurt it's all good.

What are some of your accessory exercises that you do to bench that much without getting hurt? Do you do lots of rotator cuff work?

I think its important to do some sort of flye any time you do any benching. Benching makes your pecs so god damn tight its unreal. Do 4 sets of flyes after some heavy benching and notice how much deeper you can go on each set.

Rotator work is really unnecessary and sort of dangerous IMO. Your rotator muscles are super small and are getting plenty of work anytime you do anything upper body.

My keys for keeping your bench healthy are keep mobility in your shoulder, don't neglect flyes, don't neglect back and trap work and do a proper warm up every time.

I have also been using Chris Duffin's Shoulder Rok for about a year now. It saved my benching career. I used to walk around with constant shoulder pain. I have none these days.
