    IF with morning workout

    Hello everyone,

Just trying to get back on track here.... I have had some success with IF. Question to those who do IF and workout in the morning:

My fasting window is from 2pm until the following morning (~7am). Due to my tight schedule, my workouts (both strenght and cardio) take place in the early morning hours (5am-6:30am) in a fasted state. The only thing I take prior and during my workouts is BCAA.

Of those of you who do the IF regiment and work out in a fasted state.... how do you deal with the low energy levels? The cardio days are a breeze, but the lifting days are a different ball of wax.... I am finding out that taking BCAAs before and during the workout helps with my stamina and overall ability to lift heavier. Any other suggestions? supplements? nutrition you consume? - though I have a problem consuming solids upon rising up at 4:30am, so I'm not sure if eating anything will be doable for me.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

If your energy levels are low then eat something pre-workout.

IF is not magical, it exists purely for convenience.

If it makes your workout struggle, don't do it.

I usually train on empty. I do this because I find I have more energy as opposed to training fed.

Perhaps training fasted isn't optimal for you.

As stated above, there is no advantage to fasted training or IF as opposed to fed training or a more conventional eating protocol. The only advantages are preferential to the individual. Optimized training, appetite, convenience of ones personal schedule; these things all differ from person to person.

If it doesn't work for you, don't do it.

Many people feel more energetic training fasted. If this isn't true for you then you probably shouldn't train fasted.

Waiting 7 hours to consume protein after your workout = not a good idea.

    Alright, I read that wrong.

Try having a banana or something before your workout.

I did IF and had success as well. My window is 11AM-7PM. I go to the gym from 3:30AM-4:45AM. I don't take anything prior and I don't feel tired at all. I was advised at the time to having an earlier start time so that I can fuel my body.

    Good luck.

3:30AM Holy 5hit! That's dedication! Kudos.... that's an interesting window you have... so if I understand correctly, after your gym, you have your breakfast and what not, then fast between 11am and 7pm? Do you have dinner or any meals after 7pm before heading to bed?

    Thanks

    1. What time do you get up, 3:15?
    2. What time do you go to bed at night?
    3. Are you waking/training this early due to your work schedule?
    4. You are really not tired at all during this workout session?

I give you credit, 3:30 workout, damn.
