We talked it over. It was only because she hadn't seen me in 4 days that she wanted me to come straight up. She actually said tomorrow she WANTS me to go to the gym before I come up. Couldn't be happier with that sentence :-)

Her saying she wants you to go to the gym before seeing her is a chit test, believe I know, I'm female. She doesn't want to explicitly demand you skip the gym to see her, she wants you to prioritize her well-being over the gym and skip your workout of your own accord. It shows you care. If you proceed to go to the gym before her, you'll have no girlfriend. But maybe its better that way since you're a chitty boyfriend.

She knew I wasn't trying to be incendiary with my text message, and very little communication was needed around the subject.

Misc is full of negativity - from inexperienced minds. My best guess is an infinitesimal amount of total miscers have ever dealt with this situation, compared to the ones that have even decided to open this thread.

This is not some tinder sloot that is looking for a one week fling. And I made sure the apple I picked was one with a healthy core - she's a rational human being.

I'm twice the age of most Miscers and I would say that your OP screams of similar experiences that I have had where in an engagement I felt left out because the man wasn't there for me emotionally during surgery/hospitalization. He just basically said that my Mom should care for me and he was going to go play football every night and couldn't be bothered. Maybe that is "alpha", I don't know.

By you asking the Misc if you should go to the gym first just shows your priorities in your mind. I understand exercise addiction as I have it too, but go visit her and then work out later or skip it, don't even put the question of "visit my girlfriend after her 4th surgery or working out".

The "I'll skip the gym if that makes you feel better" text is ridiculous and would upset her, especially on pain killers and lying in the bed. That's when some other guy who is checking in on her will get higher priority in her head. Then while on pain killers she could tell him "yeah and my boyfriend isn't even here and I've had 4 surgeries", whereas he pulls the white knight "baby if you were my girlfriend, I would fly from Europe to be with you".

I was just in a hospital bed after a 5 inch abdominal incision surgery last week, so I know how emotionally vulnerable and alone a person feels in there. To get a text "sorry I've been really busy" I mean I know it's the holidays, but sheesh if he really cared, he wouldn't be too "busy" to even bother checking in or helping me as I went into medication withdrawal as the hospital wouldn't give me my ****** I take daily, and then my blood pressure shot super low so I had to lay flat and get a bunch of stuff pumped in my IV. I had nothing to do but text or watch CNN laying flat with a catheter, I couldn't even get up to walk around. I send a text to him and get no reply. Then "sorry my phone has been off"........no question if I'm doing better now or what. Off to North Carolina and going No Contact on all men and back to 12 steps.
