Going with this selection I think. Looks apparently matter to me haha I like these plates much more than the Dicks/SA plate/barbell deal. Aware me on something I might not know before I drop $270 fellas. The 2.5's are for my wife.

if those plates are the quality i think they are, they've been poorly cast and painted and can easily scratch up the sleeves of your barbell and also might not be consistent or accurate in terms of weight.
i see that stuff on my local craigslist all the time for much cheaper.
i encourage you not to buy low end plates new. i've made that mistake before and regretted it.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

I bought some a while ago to use with dumbbell presses. The holes are crudely cast.
To such an extent that they were scratching up the sleeves on every bar I owned. Some people might not consider this a big deal, but it will significantly alter the way plates sit on the sleeve. The damage is more than cosmetic & would lead to all of my non-stainless bars rusting.
I don't know your budget, but you may want to save up for better quality plates. They are a part of your home gym that you won't replace if you buy decent quality.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

Adamant barbell's website has some decent prices on higher mid-range plates when buying new (Not sure what your budget is, or where you're located), but I've had a good experience with that site when they shipped my Troy plates out to me. They still have that free shipping on $400, or more deal as well.

Your spending about $150 more over DSGs for looks? Once I sold the barbell that came with the set, I was about $120 for my DSG set.
For about ~$100 more I would go with this, sell the barbell for ~100 and have a kickass weight set for $300.

just buy the first plates you can find for $.50/pound.
keep looking for better, or save your money for nicer higher end plates
when the time comes, you can sell your plates for $.50/pound to break even.
i went from my troy boss-300 set (which i bought new, oh the regret) to pendlay econ bumper plates. they're more accurate and they fit on the bar nice.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

And props to them for accurately describing the quality and durability of this particular barbell in their product description.

I couldn't agree more with that. You get free shipping by meeting the over $400 mark and you technically get a rebate so to speak by selling the cheaper quality bar that comes with it...The deal works out well for buying new (I kinda wish I found this site before I dropped the coin on the GO line of plates, since they don't have a 300 lb weight set with the bar like the HO line does..but I have no regrets on getting the GO plates because I'm where I want to be/hopefully stay as far as quality plates are concerned). As for my second helping of needing more plates for my set, I'm glad I found adamant barbell cause the GOs are the cheapest I found new on that site.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Different markets. I could get $65 for my DSG bar. I am figuring $80-100 for the Troy branded.

Came in being jelly thinking it would be new Rogue/Eleiko/Ivanko/York plates and bumpers.
Then...
Definitely if your persistent in looking in the right places. You may have to drive quite a distance, but in the end you'll have something to keep for awhile. Value doesn't decrease once buying used so you can always sell for what you paid for or more.Ivanko Barbell Crew #61

I reached out to Allison and she never got back to me. Fortunately, I'm not sure it would have made much of a difference. York is currently offering 15% off all of their normally priced items. They also have BOGO on medicine balls and kettle bells. I was just up there yesterday picking up some plates. I ended up getting 425 pounds of the deep dishes for something like $357. The plates aren't fantastic by any means, but they're probably a half step (at least) above the plates posted by the OP. They'll hold me over until I upgrade to some Eleikos when I have enough space (and money lol) to justify it.
