I've been performing dumbbell curls with the worst possible form for 9 weeks now (curling the wrist up to my face), and only now did I start to witness the symptoms. Namely, the acute pain when pulling heavy or putting the weight down. After some research I now realize the proper way to do curls, however (even after lowering the weight) I still have difficulty to keep my wrist straight and steady and pain-free.
After doing shoulders tomorrow (was supposed to do them today) I'm thinking about going out to buy wrist wraps, take 3-4 days off (left wrist is still feeling uncomfortable right now and I haven't touched weights today), and then go back to my usual plan, saving biceps for last. I'm also going to start incorporating forearm exercises, which I haven't paid any attention to thus far.
Are wrist wraps worth it, though? Or are they like EZ bars? I've heard EZs allow you to perform curls easier and without unnecessary strain, however they don't stimulate the biceps as much. Do wrist wraps have the same problem?
Thanks everyone for answering!

I don't do curls so I'm not going to weigh in there. What I will say is that for heavy presses of any variety I wear wraps to help solidify the "table" in the heel of my palm. They are great and I feel a lot more stable specifically after I unrack the bar and begin the movement.

It's your form on dumbbell curls. That and possible your wrists are weak. Try doing wrist curls or grip training at the end of your routine. I used to get that sharp pain in my wrists when lowering heavy db's for rows. For me wearing wraps helped alleviate that a little. I don't have that issue anymore.
