Im 19, 5'11", and 183lbs. I've never even been in a gym before and i have no idea how to start working out. my college has a free gym but I'm scared to go alone. the only person i know who works out and would know how to help me is my roommate, who is a giant german guy who used to be in bodybuilding in his teens. I'm just scared to ask him because i don't want him to laugh at me, we don't know each other that well and i wouldn't know how to ask him. i wouldn't want to slow him down or embaress him, because i am literally clueless when it comes to working out.
i also can't afford a trainer or supplements, i also don't eat very much each day as my meal plan ran out at my campuses cafeteria, so i can't really eat a lot.
if anyone can't help me please reply
thanks

Grab a routine from the link in my sig. Fierce5 is a popular choice.
Study form. Nail your form and you'll do fine. If you need help with it, take a vid and post it for feedback.
You don't necessarily need a gym buddy. You may need the occasional spot which you can ask anybody for.
Read the sticky posts in the nutrition forum. If you're going to build muscle, you'll need enough food.Beginner routines commonly suggested:
