These expensive fitness tracking and measuring devices have gotten out of hand, like the Fitbit craze. I don't need a device to tell me how many steps I am closer to death, how many times a day I sh!t, or how many hours of sleep I got last night.

I might come off as a shill (DGAF), but how does it compare to the Push Band for measuring speed?
It'd be nice to have an "affordable" tendo machine.
As for tracking volume, log it yourself beyond imputing it into this device. Sometimes, you can see things when hand/spreadsheet calculating data over just looking at data that's been worked out for you.
I don't think speed training is a bad thing for competitive athletes. Some like it, some don't.Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59
Lifts no one cares about:
SQ: 619x1 (suit bottoms, no belt) / 507x1 (raw, no belt)
BP: 392x1 (pause bench, raw)
DL: 500x1 (suit bottoms, no belt)

What would be better...a sensor on each cap of a barbell/dumbbell. This would not only tell you an accurate speed but also if you're favoring one side or the other. Put two sensors on opposite corners of a rack, then two more at the bottom on the other sides of the first two. That might show some interesting data as well.
I used to think my only choices were Kate Moss thin or Delta Burke happy.

I just figured I'd get everyone's thoughts.. at $200 it's not something I'm willing to take a chance on. A buddy of mine at work seems to think it'll be the next big thing but I told him that I felt it was too expensive and seemed like way too much of a gimmick to me.

You have to manually enter in the weight each set. If it was totally autonomous and you could just wirelessly download the data, that's one thing...but this thing is just an accelerometer and some software. Maybe that's oversimplifying what it is - but I've seen a bunch of these before. Maybe the software is different for each one - but the device is the same.

This is very true. One way that I'd use it would be comparing power over the course of a cycle. I think it'd help me decide whether to step back or do something different. I'm sure that kind of stuff can be avoided with proper programming instead of the home-grown stuff I'm doing.
I'm not sure how big of a deal that would be to enter in each weight, depending on the UI. I wish someone could get a free one and review it.

The coaches at the gym I attend use the info from these things to tailor the days session and to adjust the taper of workouts leading up to and after an event.
I honestly don't pay much attention to whatever data they ramble on about but I assume they find it useful. I just do what I'm told and let them geek out on the equipment.

Is this technically a "tendo unit"?

The next model will be able to predict your next Crossfit injury.
One day, maybe not soon, but one day, it will be mine turn to feel the bar bend. One day.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

$199. Not a terrible price compared to other wearable Tech.
I'll wait on the 2nd or 3rd generation (if it lasts that long). One day, maybe not soon, but one day, it will be mine turn to feel the bar bend. One day.
