Attorneys blame the school district and the city for �stoking the flames� and placing blame on Ahmed even after it was decided he would not be criminally charged and his �suspicious-looking item� was not a threat.

A week after the arrest, Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne told Glenn Beck that another side of the story was not being told. She referred to the item as a �hoax bomb,� not a clock, and said that Ahmed was not cooperative during questioning by police.

What scared kid is going to be cooperative while being screamed at by law enforcement and school administration? He's a kid. What are they expecting him to do? Don't they deal with kids all the time?

�He told a lot more to the reporters than he ever told to the police,� Van Duyne said. �There�s a problem with that. If your child was in that school and you saw something like this come in, you would want to make sure it is our priority to make our children safe in school, period.�

Her attempt at quelling this under the guise of public safety seems to indicate that they don't have an affirmative argument to present for their actions. Of course they should make it a priority, but they should as well make a priority of common sense with regard to situations, this is another zero-tolerance event that shows zero-common sense of which I would expect adults who deal with children on a daily basis to in the least understand.

And right there is the case the kid has. If it was a bomb like device and showed immediate danger they would have followed a procedure for such a device, not passed it around the school administration, propped it up on a desk in public, moved it several times and then decided to call the authorities.

The schools reaction for this situation should be on trail here and hopefully schools will come up with better procedures for dealing with items like this or other oddities in our changing world.

Little bastard? Crooked family? How emotionally invested in this 'news story' are you? As i said earlier, regardless of his family/race/culture/creed/cis-gender, if the charges in his letter and the events in the public record match up..the kid has a legitimate case and something that while we make not like the messenger certainly bears a message that we need to listen to to ensure that everyone is afforded equal rights.
