While I can't talk about 144hz specifically, I can confirm Qnix is the goat.

For like $200 you can get a 27" 2560x1440p 60hz monitor that is overclockable to 96-120hz with ease.

I have one currently and am thinking about pulling the trigger to buy 2 more.

They're also hella durable. Accidentally dropped mine from waist height while moving it, and not a single scratch on the thing. Still works great

my girl's kid has her Xbox 360 hooked up to a very small tv. Any issues with hooking it up to a pc monitor (1080p) via HDMI? She should get sound and all that if the monitor has build in speakers right?
Thinking of grabbing a cheap Acer monitor for her.

No issues. I had my old Xbox hooked up to a PC monitor via HDMI for a couple years.

Not sure about the speakers though, but I imagine built in monitor speakers would work.

That or go buy a cheap $30 set of 2.1 speakers. I have a set from Logitech that were cheap.

Only thing I can critique is:
- I would have gone with a 970 GTX, and waited for Pascal cards to see when I want to upgrade. 970's run everything fine right now.

- I would have also gotten a "Full Tower" Instead of Mid tower. Simple for Aesthetics on the inside of the case (and it might help run a bit cooler, etc..)

That being said if I would not be upset if you gifted me all this lol.

For now I think the 980ti will hold up through the upcoming VR phase. Otherwise, I could always do an SLI setup or sell the 980ti and buy the latest and greatest.

I was more concerned with the PSU, CPU cooler, and CPU itself. I originally had a 650W PSU but cancelled and went for the 750W. Then I thought, the H110i GTX would probably be better for the i7. So do I downgrade the cooler or upgrade the CPU. Still debating on that. I'm planning to OC the 6600k at around 4.5.

yeah I don't see any reason they wouldn't. I always used my headset when I had that setup though.

Speaking of headsets, does anyone have any ideas for a semi-cheap (under $60) pair that is comfortable? I've been using the same $10 pair from Meijers that I bought almost 6 years ago, and they get really uncomfortable after about an hour

Case LED's just came in (Bitfenix Alchemy 2.0), these strips are hnngh as fuark. I didnt want RGB so this was perfect. Magnetic strips, along with a magnetic connector for easy and concealable routing

Thanks m8, i ordered another set of LED's for my monitor and desk. After that i plan on picking up a mechanical keyboard. Only thing i hate about my setup is that this little nook is the only place i can put my desk because of a poorly designed room. Which leaves me with these chitty blinds behind my desk.

How much better is 970 SLI than a single 970?

Are there games that SLI causes an issue for? And can SLI be used for triple monitor gaming?

Got a friend who's willing to sell me his card for $200 so he can upgrade to a 980Ti. I already have one 970 running.

$200 for a 970 is a good deal. I wouldnt pay retail though and wouldnt normally pick 970 SLI. The downside to SLI is that you still only have the same amount of video memory, the 3.5/4 gb in each card is duplicated. So now you got a lot of GPU processor power but if you go too high of a resolution you can start getting into that slow 1/2 last gb on the 970.

Yeah if I was building today, i might use a 960 or something and wait for pascal because thats coming out later this year. I barely game so i could probably even use a 950 or 750 for half a year.

a couple times a month they sell them refurbed from Acer themselves, with 90 day warranty, for $400. came out to $424 after tax in my state.

I can't post the actual link because I don't have 50 posts, but if you know how to use eBay at all, you should be able to find it easily

I have been on 144hz for so long and going to 165hz was not noticeable at all. Main reason I paid money for this is IPS, 1440p, 27", Awesomeness. I run two 970s SC. I came from the first Asus 144hz 24" 1080p TN panel. Have had it for close to 2 years now.

just upgraded from 8gb ram to 16gb. same ram (ripjaw) same channel etc. after i installed it i've had blue screen with physical memory dump twice and for whatever reason my video card (i think) makes a whining noise now. like a low hum to a high hum then back down to low.

Any ideas for this?

What happens when you put back the original 8gb of ram? Does is still BSOD?

Likely voltage settings, try taking out old sticks and put the new sticks in same slot. See if the new sticks pass memtest.
