    Any spicy food fans out there?

    I love spicy foods. The hotter the better.

    My brother bought me a grow your own bhut jolokia (ghost pepper) kit over the summer. (the hottest pepper in the world) It was a little can that had a mulch like compound in it. Nothing crazy. Anyway, it sprouted nicely....and got too big so I had to transplant to a 10" pot.

    I am finally collecting my first fruit. I have 3 peppers like the one pictured. Going to let them ripen just a touch more. I also have 10-15 flowers on it. (boy this took a long growth cycle). Since I have had to move it inside, I am pollinating it by hand with a small brush.

    I am almost afraid to eat it......but you know I am going to!!! I hope it tastes good. I am not a big fan of habanero taste. Too bitter.

    I love spicy food, I'm good with spicy enough to break a sweat. I've tried some sauce with ghost pepper as a partial ingredient. The sensation was about like what I would imagine a mouthful of highly concentrated bleach would be like. It came on fast and was not pleasant. There's a place that makes wings with that pepper and requires signing a waver and release of liability (that's likely partly a gimmick) but they are not "good hot" for me. I like smokey hot and I think smoking the peppers in the grill might tame them down a bit. Good luck.

    I bought some ghost pepper sauce a while ago. The bottle said "add one drop at a time." They weren't kidding. I drizzled it onto a meal I was having and it was almost too much to handle. 3-4 drops of it on an entire meal would make the meal nice and hot. That $7 bottle was basically a lifetime supply. I ended up throwing it out because it was just hot to me, without any real character.

    My son (he's 8) swears that the ghost pepper isn't the hottest; it's the Carolina Reaper.

    I do enjoy spicy food. I've never tried a ghost pepper. I like to sweat when I eat. LOL But I'm not sure if I could handle 'the ghost.' Ha! There are a couple of Indian curries that will warm you up. I love them. The 'chile del monte' or 'chile pequin' from Mexico will take your head off! If what you've got growing is hotter than that, and I take it that it is, you'd best be careful. LOL

    Sometimes I trade up my regular ketchup for spicy ketchup when I want to go from spicy to super spicy.

    Not serious.

    My buddy grew ghost peppers this summer. His plant produced bunch. Very tiny pieces in a big batch of salsa was damn hot.

    My parents were in flordia and brought some pretty decent hot sauce back from a place called pinchers. Good stuff not over the top but hot.

    I started out like this and now just use Sriracha in place of ketchup if I want something sweet on a burger or on fries. I've been eating hot and spicy since a young age, same for my kids, so the hotter the better. Freak people out who come over who see the kids eating jalapeos out of the jar as snacks. They are actually sweet after you get used to them. Going to do a Ghost pepper next year.

    I love spicy food! And I am so used to it that I have had some embarrassing moments cooking for others and making it what I thought was very mild, and people turning purple and excusing themselves for not being able to eat it.

    I went to one of those chicken wings joints that have the "Challenge", you know, eat a whole plate of their special nuclear wings in so many minutes without drinking anything and without dying and you get the meal for free and a T-shirt. There were these 2 kids doing the challenge against each other. At one point, one of the 2 had an explosive nose bleed, and I mean explosive, I have never seen anything like it. The other guy, the one who won, his mouth was so swollen he looked deformed. I bet it was even more fun the morning after, when the wings had to come out the other way.

    Well.... This list changes pretty frequently because somebody breeds a new hotter pepper and takes the title. Years ago, when I worked in a grocery store, the Red Savina pepper was the world's hottest. Now, it barely makes the list.

    Me? I never liked spice. Even the taco bell hot sauce was too much for me. Then, a few years ago, I decided to try some habenaro pork tacos at the local taco stand. After a few bites, my mouth was on fire, but the flavor was so incredible that my brain associated the heat with pure awesomeness. I've been hooked ever since, and find that no matter how hard I look, I can't find hot sauce that is hot enough.

    That said, I don't like heat for the sake of heat. It has to be coupled with a nice flavor. I for one, love the taste of habaneros, but I am not sure I would like a super hot pepper that has been bred only for heat with no flavor.

    I can agree with you there. Just to be in pain for pains sake is not in the least enjoyable. There's got to be a wonderful flavor to accompany the heat.

    This ^^, I love spicy food as well as hot but when it becomes miserable and unbearable whats the point? People at work are always bringing in dishes with jalapeno's in them and I personally don't think jalapenos are hot at all but I don't eat the food because I can't stand the taste of a jalapeno, whereas I am fine with habanero.

    I saw the comment about habnero..... I like the heat, but HATE the taste. Too bitter for me. Tastes like ass. I am thinking I might just make a fermented hot sauce from these with some cayenne (which I love the sweetness). I think I will experiment with my own sauce....something with some good balanced taste, and the ghost peppers to kick it up.

    Always wanted to make my own hot sauces. Did a little reading and looking into how the fermentation process works. Thinking various chilis, garlic, salt..maybe a touch of apple juice to help with fermentation. Last you balance off with vinegar at the end to stabilize PH after fermenting is done.

    Im going to have to try at least a little by itself so I can get an idea of flavor profile....if it tastes like sh!t, I dont think I will use it. I dont like heat just for heat sake..... I like it to taste good.

    I am not too afraid of heat..... I bought pure capsaicin extract and have used it to kick up some of my sauces. (which you have to handle like toxic waste )....thought the ghost pepper would be fun. I transplanted a clipping off my plant to my hydroponic grower. If I like the taste, it should produce well growing in it.

    LOL A good, crisp, fresh jalapeno is ok on the taste for me. I don't like them out of a can, in a commercial hot sauce, or in a cooked dish all that much. The chile serrano holds up better in the skillet or the oven. They're a tad bit hotter too! But they have a wonderful flavor.

    i love that lil kick in my food. It dont have to be HOT. I dont try and be the big man and eat the hottest foods to prove something like ive seen some people do. I just like that punch of flavor and a just a lil heat..i use "if i have it" jalapenos and hot sauce in everything from eggs,to Ramen.AND 9/10 i do have it..

    I like the flavor of Jalapenos and still have not had Habanero on it's own, just in my chili. My chili tastes awesome and then the heat hits ya, so you keep eating the chili to keep the heat down, but the minute you stop....lmao...ouch. And yes, it burns on the way out too

    I got this as a gift a couple of years ago and I might have used about 2 tablespoons. It is nuclear hott and strong. It did not phase my niece, and if you put just a touch of it in some guacamole, it's very good flavor and some heat. More than that is like eating fresh lava.
