It's 1AM where I am. Just broke up with my girlfriend so **** it, I'll be up for a bit. It's been a while since I've been on the misc, honestly just been busy with life.

My names Brian, and I run the youtube channel "whatever". The first 1,000 subscribers came mostly from the misc, after I posted my videos here. Had a lot of support from you guys (and a decent amount of hate, in fact, I remember a few posters saying I'd never succeed on YouTube - reps to anyone who can find the post / posts who said that hah).

Happy to verify on twitter (@whatever) that this is actually me.

Anyways, I started whatever 3 years ago (November 2012). Now, I'm 250 subscribers away from 3,000,000 subscribers on YouTube. Maybe the misc can help push me over. Instead of it happening in a few hours, maybe it can happen now .

I'll be sticking around watching this thread for the next hour. Ask me anything. I'll also check in again in the morning and throughout the rest of tomorrow.

PS, I still drop Zyzz references in my videos every once in a while. Most recent reference drops were in April / May 2015.

Pranks started dying over a year ago when new people came along and started faking them, its unreal how many idiots there are that believe the most absurd acting and scenarios, really is annoying that people make it because of these fools. Dont blame people for faking videos anymore though, either put alot of work in and get 200k views or fake a viral and get 10m+ no brainer, although i click off the second i know its fake. Keep making good vids bro.

Can't disclose that, but for simplicity sake, YouTubers earn around $1 per 1,000 views. So 1,000,000 views = $1,000. Usually it's a bit less, but this is the easiest way to look at it.

You're a moran if you are only getting money from video views. There are companies that would pay a small fortune for you to plug their products occasionally. Make some products on how you made it or some merchandise that your subscribers would buy.

Checked the channel. Ass prank better than most other pranks I've seen because it isn't antagonistic like most other chitty YouTube 'pranks'. Mirin channel growth. If I could monetise a YouTube channel, I totally would. No miscer bias either.

For me, it's been a grind. You look at the other top prank channels and they've all had big viral videos (talking 20, 30, 40M+ views within 30 days) I've had some minor viral videos, but nothing crazy. While now I have videos with 20M+ views, that was after slow growth. None of those passed 10M within 30 days.

Depends on how you define CPM. Some will tell you they have $4 CPM, but that is for MONETIZED views. Not every view is monetized. That is not a simple number to track from the outside. What is available publicly is a users TOTAL views (monetized or not) - and this is the number I use. Most would agree it's around $1/1000 views. My audience is predominantly male, which is more savvy when it comes to ad blocker. Other YouTubers with a pre-teen girl audience might enjoy a higher CPM because pre-teen girls don't use ad block, heck they probably click on the ads to support their favorite YTers.
