I'm bandwagon in the sense that I'm a curry fan who only likes the warriors because they drafted Curry. But at least I liked them when they were terrible and had steph curry on the team. Decent chance they'll at least be my #2 team once curry is retired after he made me a fan

But the NBA is an individualistic league and curry has been my favorite player since he was in college. Cheering for him and his team's success has had me more emotionally invested in the Warriors for years. I didn't completely religiously eat sleep NBA until I left for college in 2011 and so that was the first season where I watched basically every Warriors game (went 24-42 I think) and was emotionally invested in the team enough that I was watching every game while curry was out with ankle injuries not even playing. I don't really have any similar attachment to the current celtics players, but I still watch ~70% of the games since they rarely conflict with warriors games (east coast 7 pm start west coast 10:30 pm start) and they only play each other twice a year, and have no bearing on each other in the playoffs currently. It's really not too difficult to support one team in the east and one in the west.
Also supporting a non-local team kind of makes you even more attached to them, because everyone you know automatically thinks of you when they think of that team. I'm the only Warriors fan of any of my friends and it becomes a litte side part of your own identity since its unique. For many of my college friends one of the first things they knew about me was that I was obsessed with basketball and curry/warriors. Though now I just look like much more of a band wagoner than I did 2-3 years ago. But at the same time I've had a lot of people eat crow and give respect for the fact that Ive been raving about curry and the Warriors for years and it's all come true, so that's fun as fuk.Last edited by Day1086; 11-03-2015 at 12:24 AM.
