    It is called the Valsalva Maneuver. It raises intra-thorasic pressure (among other physiological changes) and allows you to generate more force safely. It can create some risks in certain people, but many people (myself included) use it to maximize power generation safely.

    Thank you very much. I found myself dizzy sometimes after finishing a heavy set of hack squats and always figured it was something with my breathing during the set.

    Absolutely. If you're not dizzy, you're not doin' it right.

    Seriously though, I frequently get dizzy and light-headed when performing my heavy sets. It passes.
