Nice job!!! Came in expecting something great and NOT disappointed. While the weight is huge........the ROM is what I noticed the most. Really really really nice!

I've never used one of these so sorry if this is obvious but is there a safety built in in case you cant get the weight back up?

The one at my gym has one, it's the floor.

Thanks, ID. I've been grinding hard and had been focusing on my back squat for quite some time. I got up to 495lbs for 8 and decided to change up my leg training since I wasn't seeing much in the way of hypertrophy. Been working on the hack squats for about 5 or 6 weeks now. I'm probably going to back it down over the next couple weeks and hit some high volume. I know I have 700lbs in me, but I can't keep pushing the envelope because an injury right now would be devastating as I'm starting a bulk in the next week or so. BB competition is still on my mind.

No, no safeties at the bottom. Just the platform.

Not deep enough by judging standards. Your feet should also be at a 32 degree angle to the stack. Your also getting some mild transfer from the rounding which is almost enough to make the lift not legit.

Wow!! That ROM is impressive with that amount of weight. I am glad your smart and using knee wraps. My knees just ache thinking about doing them. I am 45 and wondering if you can give any advice other than knee wraps on keeping your knees healthy at a later age? Keep up the good work. Hope you place well in your bodybuilding show.

If I face the opposite way on the squat machine at my gym it's similar to a hack squat but more upright. It also requires a bit of hip mobility the lower you go which I like. I squat at home but I think high rep day will be on this machine going forward for awhile.

Yes sir. A big breath right before the descent. If I'm not mistaken some powerlifting coaches teach to take a breath at the top and hold it throughout the repetition and exhale at the top once the rep is completed. I don't like holding my breath during my entire rep and have always been in the habit of exhaling during the concentric portion of the movement.

Fortunately I have never had issues with my knees. The only precaution I take, if you want to call it that, is that I begin my leg training with four sets of 20 reps on the leg extension machine to warm up the knees.

I like to change things up on different movements as well. There's a squat machine at my gym that I stand in backwards from time to time as well. It provides a totally different feel. To me it's all about hitting the muscles from various angles.
