all these terrible side view pics or videos "prove" is that a lot of lifters who aren't trained referees have very little idea of where the rulebook is actually telling the referees to look. Even when there's a clear side view picture (like Frankdaddy's) I've had people say anything from "basically parallel" to "skyhigh 6-8 inches".

@izzy - skipping Westerns lifting-wise but I might go to hangout with friends. Aside from the fun of it all, Hailey Kostnyuik is attempting to break the 84kg+ junior squat world record in her last meet as a junior.

well...deficits aren't really ever that hard off the floor, where do they get really really hard? at lockout, because you had a ****ty leverage position the entire pull and you need to overcome that at lockout.

block pulls are hard at the block because you don't get leg drive and your back is in the weakest position it gets in a pull, so you really need to work on getting it off the block, but the lockout is relatively easy because you didn't move it very far once you get it going.

but people talk about deficits being good for when you're bad off the floor, and block pulls are for working your lockout when the variations themselves tell you where they're hard and where they're easy, aka what they're working.

related to the post you quoted...sumo pulls off a deficit (unless a very small deficit) are silly. pull off the deficit conventional, and use your sumo stance for full pulls and block pulls.

Correct. Raw worlds is all combined, equipped worlds is open, sub/juniors, an masters worlds. Three different meets. Plus benchpress worlds is equipped too.

I don't know, anytime somebody is raw benching around 500 ish people get amped up. If there are a whole bunch of sub 300lbs benches I agree, not much excitement.

appears that he's hitting right at parallel but I've yet to see a vid of picture that's clear enough to tell. The side view pic from Duffin is pretty useless as the spotters hand is covering the hip crease.

Anyone have experience with dry needling? It's been mentioned to me a couple times as something to help get rid of this huge chunk of scar tissue sitting on my pec, but I'm skeptical. Also, I hate needles. Is it BS or can it actually help with something like that?

Not sure if it does anything for scar tissue or not but I had very good experience with dry needling.

I dislocated my shoulder really badly a couple years ago, like just over 3 years ago (right before I started lifting), and during the rehab my PT asked if I'd be down to try that so I said sure, and each session went from pretty limited range of motion to having more and more right away. It definitely helped with ROM purposes, not so much with stability or anything like that. That was more on my part doing little things like pullaparts etc.

If it is the right solution to your problem it will probably work but like I said idk if it's the right thing for scar tissue or not. Your PT should hopefully know though lol.

I'm just jelly they raised the depth standards at our local gpc meets

Tom Martin hit a massive 890kg total in his first gpc comp at 100kg (1962 / 220)

the video is on his ********, while the kid certainly isn't weak he definitely gets an F- for the plate selection on his best lifts
