Yes but KK doesn't do 2 hour weigh-ins.
There's a lot of thoughts behind it and ultimately depends what works best for the athlete I suppose. Sheiko likes his athletes very close to their competing BW throughout the year. Some like doing massive cuts.

I feel like cutting mroe than a couple lbs for a 2hr weigh in is generally not a good idea. 24hr weigh ins are easy because you have a whole damn day to reconstitute and let your bodyweight stabilize a bit as well.

I don't think Ilya Ilyin cuts that much a day out, though, he probably just cuts down slowly to the competition. Josh Hancott was 82kg 36 hours out and he's in the 74kg class. That's 10% of your BW to lose, quite a lot!
I've water cut 2-3kg myself and even I'm not a fan. It's quite easy but I just don't like having to worry about it. Plus I'd rather weigh whatever I do and have a good breakfast and relax than have to try stuff my face with food and water before lifting. Last time I felt bloated and terrible.202.5/135/245. MEET REPORT
Neg me Baize. Do it. I suck.
"I apologize for not updating everyone yesterday, WV is kind of a black hole for my phone and I ate through my roaming coverage pretty fast. But long story short, I bombed out on deadlifts! The squat and bench went okay, I tied Victor Biryukov squat record at 217.3lbs with a 727.5 squat some of you may have seen. Bench went okay, hit my opener at 485, and missed 501 twice. The press commands were very long, but that's to be expected with the way I sink the bar. Cuts always effect the bench the most and I saw it yesterday. Then on pulls, we warmed up with Texas power bars, I worked up to 675 and it FLEW. Went to the platform and ripped 727.5 up, and it moved FAST. But, once I passed my knees and mid thigh, the bar rolled and I ripped 3 spots on my Palm very bad. I couldn't recover despite great advice from Pete Rubish and a last minute effort by Jim Elli Monica Nemeth Will Whitlock to get me new skin, and hold on to any other attempts. That opener would have put me at a 1940 total, which is 11lbs behind Dan Green-Powerlifter USPA 220 total record.
Ultimately, I fell short of my goal, and I am disappointed. However, I know what I need to do in the future, and there's no doubt in my mind that I will it. Either the USPA Chicago Fit Expo for my next one or Boss of Bosses 3. Just have to get my entry in this time for Sparkle Green haha.
I can never thank you all enough. My girlfriend Skyler Sloan Hjelm has shown me unrelenting support and encouragement, my family is nothing short of amazing, and the messages I've received from all my friends amazed me. One day, I'll pull it all together. I know I have the strength for it, and you all do too after seeing yesterday, it's just about the execution. Stay tuned and believe in 2k"
Copy and pasted the above from ********.
So the cut went prefect. I used dandelion root, caffeine, and mag cit to expel practically everything from my body, and weighed in at 217.3lbs. This photo was taken the night before https://www.instagram.com/p/BB8xe96w...vanpowerlifter
After weighing in I took it easy on food, didn't pig out, and followed Brian Carroll's reconstitution plan to a T. It ended with me looking inhuman, and legitimately freakbeast esque. This photo was taken during Friday afternoon around 4pm https://www.instagram.com/p/BB-ytJoQ...vanpowerlifter
Slept well the night before, and felt great the day of the meet. Warming up for squats went well, but I could tell the cut effected my stability in the hole very very slightly. I was getting TOO deep.
Opened at 700 and it moved well, looked a little shaky I nthe hole but that was expected. Went to 727.5 to tie the squat record and hit it. Definitely a grinder but made it happen. This is the video https://www.instagram.com/p/BCA-FY2j...en-by=ayoliang
I went up to 738 and missed it. I just wasn't strong enough today, and I need to peak better for my next meet.
Bench warm ups felt shaky. Cuts always effect your bench, and I'm going to address this the next training cycle with more volume and more hypertrophy work for my upper body. I need to get bigger.
Opened at 485 and noticed two things. They do not like me sinking the bar, because the press command took a LONG time, and this bench was lower than the one I trained on. I got a bigger arch but I cramped the **** out of my erectors on both sides. I went to 501, because I knew I had the strength to get it but I needed to not hit something before it. However, on the second attempt, I set up with my feet further out in front of me to avoid cramping, and couldn't get enough leg drive to finish. I grind the **** out of my benches when I have to and I tried, but looking back I struggled too long and should have just let them take it. Stayed at 501 and missed again on third.
Going into deads I felt amazing. Hitting my opener of 727.5 would have put me at a 1941 total, 10lbs behind Dan Green's USPA record in sleeves. He's one hell of a guy to beat so that became my new short term goal if I didn't think 788 would be there to crack 2000. Worked up to 675 on the texas power bars in the warm up room and it flew. No doubt I'd be strong enough to hit my opener.
Going to the platform, still no doubt. I rip the bar up and it FLIES, the bar rolls because I'm not used to the whip and I shred the **** out of 3 spots on my hand http://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/...f8&oe=575FF3FC
http://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/...52&oe=5726DFAF
Okay, ****. I think I'll try to stop the bleeding (bleeding won't stop) I get recommended to tape one strip around the bloddiest spot and try to pull next time. 2nd attempt, tape slips immediately bar hardly moves. ****.
Talk to Rubish, he tells me to let him crank a wrist wrap around the hand hard to stop blood flow and close the hand. Try that, and know I will bomb if I miss. Squeeze as hard as I can on third, move it fast still, but just can't keep the grip on the left side, and lose the bar above my thighs. Want to cry and die for a few seconds.
Then I get over it. I know I'm strong enough to do it. I'm going to try to save some money, buy a deadlift bar to train with, and learn how to hook grip on it. Even if I cant hook, I'll have the bar to get used to.
Don't get me wrong this was depressing, but I'll get it next time. It was amazing hanging with my friends, beautiful gf, family, and meeting a lot of awesome powerlifters like Rubish, Ben something from Columbus, Nate something, Brandon Franklyn, Thomas Paynter, Derrick Martin, Wojo, Mallory, Shane, Asian Ben, Asian Reddit dude (I forgot your name I'm sorry), and other people I'm forgetting.
All in all it was an amazing day, definitely fell short of what I wanted, but oh well. That's life. I'm just gonna have to put it together at the Chicago Fit Expo on June 25.

Interesting theory I've heard about DK. His ability to stay so upright under any load with the front squat or back squat could be hindering his deadlift. Seems like he's so upright that he can't get into the rounded upper back/shoulder forward position in the deadlift, which could help him pull a lot more.

Was following on fb. Too bad man. Hand healing up alright?
Front squats are so much anterior chain, I would argue quite a bit more than high bar squats (maybe theres an EMG study somewhere looking at the difference, idk). I find you have to stay much more upright with that cross arm grip. Not sure if its hindering him or not, he may just have a very strong ant chain and weaker (relative) posterior chain. Pretty incredible though.B. Kinesiology

I remember Karwoski saying back in the day his quads were too big so they got in the way of the bar when locking out.
