After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

Tried out my convicts and strangs in the same session today, I think I now know what people mean by stopping power. Convicts are soft and comfy and have some rebound to them but they feel like bouncy ass sleeves compared to strangs, nowhere near the amount of support/far easier to hit depth

Yes...you never heard of people requiring 3 buddies to put on SBD sleeves? Now imagine if it was a suit but much tighter.
Glad I never spent the money to buy convicts then. Don't really need to buy new wraps that are soft and comfy, can just use any old pair of broken in wraps. But once the strangs break in they're on the stretchy side as well imo. The only wraps I've tried that really have "stopping power" are death rows and overkill. They don't really break in either. My training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=129669663

Those are paki wraps then.
Real convicts are thin and stiff and abrasive with minimal stretch and feel like a cast. All stopping power and little pop.
The paki wraps will be thick, soft and stretchy and bouncy and won't lock up on the way down. They're not bad wraps they just aren't the original type despite being sold as such.
If you want the real convicts then order the commander wraps from pioneer, and state that they have to be the thin castlike material, because they still have a bunch of the stretchy stuff kicking around. Just be aware they don't give as many revs/pounds as strangs will, and they're moreso meant for multiply lifters.
If you have the american made strangs and not getting stopping power then youre wrapping wrong brah. They're stretchier when broken in but still lock up like a bastard.Last edited by 308smk; 04-14-2016 at 12:29 PM.

Generally, if you can get into the gear at all, it's not too tight. Whether you are skilled enough to use gear that tight is another matter. I've seen guys take 30 minutes to get into a competition suit.
And yes, it doesn't work correctly if it's loose. It should be, at a minimum, quite snug. Tighter the better generally. This is for single ply though, multiply gear doesn't have to be so tight.

Compared to the death rows the strangs really are on the stretchy side though. I use these two the most so whenever I switch from death rows to strangs in the same workout I feel way less stopping power. Not to say the death rows are better though, they're a b!tch to get a good number of revs and they're still stiff as ****. When they finally break in (if they ever) I have a feeling they'll be the best wraps ever though.
I didn't know about the convicts but I think APT got rid of/sold all of his paki strangs already? I know a few guys that bought strangs recently and didn't specify to get the good stuff but still got the Murikkan strangs. My training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=129669663

Didn't even think of that, thought it was just the strangs that was an issue with. I got these for a tenner to use as a training wrap for lighter stuff so I don't care at all but I can see why you'd be mad as fuk if you ordered strangs and got something like this, difference is night and day. Feels good knowing for sure my strangs are the real deal

APT is just one dude, Alan. He just sources the raw material, gets it manufactured and finished elsewhere, and then retails the finished product. He had to discontinue certain wrap lines because they are extremely expensive for the material, have long lead times, and have large minimum order quantities(2-3miles of wrap). So now he only gets his most popular wraps(strang/convict) made from the US webbing supplier and everything else comes from Pakistan. Those new wraps are not USA made, I asked. When he ran low on his US made stuff he got cheap paki stuff to fill the gap in between orders. A few years ago he just stopped shipping all together and was almost out of business because he couldn't get raw material.
That's why there's varying batches of wrap material, despite being called the same name and looking cosmetically the same. Nearly all fitness/gear companies get their raw material from overseas, because they are significantly cheaper and don't require huge orders. Of course, quality suffers.
That's a big reason why my death row wraps are tucked away. I know how good they are and PBG is super sketchy right now so I want to save them for when I really need them.Last edited by 308smk; 04-14-2016 at 02:51 PM.

How is it that huge companIes like titan and inzer can't make wraps that compare with ones that chitty little one man outfits do? Makes no fuking sense. Hopefully everyone at worlds this year wears SBDs and kicks their arses into gear

Yeah there were a ton of guys using APT wraps, and i know alot were pissed off when they became unapproved.
The wrap you wear in a suit doesn't matter as much as raw though, as the majority of the poundage is coming from the suit, and the squats tend to be less quad dominant.
