    Stretching

Do you stretch or not after a workout / before a workout.

I've only stretched in highschool because Football / wrestling made us and in the navy at coordinated PT sessions, but honestly never do stretch.

I read somewhere that some people just dont need to stretch while others do?

Anyone got any info on this or opinions? I'd like to hear them

Stretching is important, particularly the type of stretching. Light dynamic stretching prior to exercise and/or afterwards is fine. I wouldn't do anything intensive and/or static stretching before lifting.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

I never stretch. Even back in my running days before a marathon.

You ever see a lion stretch in the wild before it takes down a gazelle?

I do warm up though. Few sets of little weight before I stack the plates on and the such. Figure this does more to warm up the muscles than any static movement could do.

i think thats pure bs , if you want to be flexible then you have to stretch , if you dont then you wont be flexible, as simple as that. you cant attain anything without working for it

That's the stupidest analogy I've heard in a while.

OP, dynamic stretching is appropriate at the beginning of your training and static stretches should be use at the end of a workout. I tend to stretch after a high volume workout or whenever I feel like I need it, but it's not an absolute necessity imo.

I knew an olympic weightlifter who had lifted for 4-5 years and he never stretched.

i 'correctively' stretch. in other words i only stretch when it i feel a particular muscle group is screwing up my positioning for a lift, usually it's squat and the calves, hip flexors and adductors i find. occasionally i will stretch other muscle groups, but not frequently.

don't feel like stretching is necessary as long as the technique is unaffected and you warm up properly.

..but OP, stretching is important. I usually do a light warm up and then stretch again after I lift.

Stretching is important, but I'd say the majority of people who lift won't do it until it becomes a problem. I'm guilty of that. I definitely think static stretches and foam rolling have helped a lot with my mobility and injuries or pains.
