The numbers on the dumbbell are just the model number of the dumbell you are using. The actual weight of the dumbbell should be in the manual you were given with it. I could be wrong, but im rarely ever wrong.

You understand diffraction of light yes?
When you lift the dumbells at a certain angle, called the angle of sloots, it causes 35.0% of the weight to be diffracted towards the nearest adjacent lifter. If you pay attention you would notice that with poorly made dumbells, s one of your own weight would be transferred over.*No glow no plow crew*

Dumbbells also weigh as much as the inverse of your intelligence quotient. The dumber you are, the heavier they are. When you're very intelligent, you don't use dumbbells anymore as they're so light. That's when you start with cleverbells.
The age-old problem is knowing when to opt for cleverbells over dumbbells. At least with kettlebells it's easy, that's when you want coffee or tea and you're boiling the kettle.Doesn't life crew

One should also note that dumbbells have dynamic weighting. Besides the micro-holes and differences between iron and rubber, center of gravity, etc... when dumbbells are delivered from a metric country to an imperial country, they become heavier. SRS.
When 60lbs dumbbells leave imperial USA and are delivered to metric SA, they become 60kg as we don't use pounds in metric countries. But 60kg = 132lbs if you really want to know.
This might explain how South Africa was able to thrash USA 64-0 in the Rugby World Cup the other day.Doesn't life crew

I'm still confused, misc. I'm so sorry for the bump. I took a dumbbell that said 30 on each side, put it on a scale and it said 29.5. How does that work? I thought it was 60?
