I'm on my 6th week recovery after having hernia surgery, Im starting to run and lift very light within the next week but I also need to gain the 13 lbs back that I lost.
I was using gold standard whey for a while, but is there anything that I can get cheaper that has more calories/protein per scoop?
Should I order off of body building or go to SAMs and buy a big bag of something?
What kind should I buy?

Granted you are cleared by your physician, I would take a look at MyProtein Impact Whey. It's currently 20% off in the BB store, and some of our best flavors are available. Try the Chocolate Mint or Chocolate Caramel...you will not be disappointed!

To gain the weight back, you will need to eat in a calorie surplus. Protein powder is just powdered food to help you reach your daily protein intake and can be convenient to carry around. Try to stick with whole foods as much as possible but if you need a protein, here are some of my favorites:
Body Nutrition Trutein has a variety of delicious flavors and is a combination of whey, casein, and egg protein.
BPI Whey-HD
PES Select
Blue Star Whey-Smooth
Cutler Total Protein
Animal WheyProgressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

I would always choose to order from BB.com. Really good deals to be found here, incredible fast shipping, and customer service has your back no matter what. It sounds like the Doctor has approved lifting for you, so there shouldn't be any worry of consuming protein powder (food) to reach your macronutrients.

I really don't care what protein I use, as long as it tastes halfway decent. I've always used muscle mass and gold standard that's it. I'm a pe teacher and I go to school at night so I'd like to carry a shake with me during the times I can't really eat..
I'll search some here on bb store and compare the ingredients.
What are some good foods to carry with me as snacks during my five hours in class?
I'm trying to put on 20 pounds

More calories per scoop...personally, I'd add things like peanut butter, whole milk, ground up oats, full fat yogurt, etc. Those are cheap additions that will add calories to your shakes.
For the protein itself, I would stick to something third party certified, and personally I'm a fan of blends for their texture and increased absorption. Examples of high quality blends are PES Select and Blue Star Whey Smooth. ON is fine if you prefer a straight whey and like what you're using now.
Good snacks to carry around could be trail mix, dried fruit, little packets of granola, nuts, PopTarts, etc.Olympus Labs Representative

I'm a huge fan of peanut butter... I came across the BSN Syntha-6 on BB.com. They have a chocolate peanut butter flavor, 5lbs for $49.99. I paid about $54 for my whey gold standard.
Syntha-6 just as good as the gold ON?
Anything else I should look at ordering off of bb.com while I'm trying to bulk up? I have micronized creatine as well.

If you want to pack on size you need to be in a caloric surplus. 20 pounds should be put on over a long term, not quickly. Great snacks include, well, anything that fits your macros...but I'm a huge fan of protein cookies by Lenny&Larry's and MyProtein, and also Quest bars and Combat Bars.

Great advice. These will definitely beef up your caloric intake for a low $$.
Another great protein powder would be scivation whey in chocolate peanut butter or chocolate. We have vanilla as well but our chocolate options are stellar and delicious. 30g of protein per scoop.

Thank you to those above who mentioned Blue Star Whey Smooth as an option. OP, Whey Smooth is becoming a forum favorite. We provide an a high quality protein, what you see on the label is what you get, and the variety of flavors are legit. The favorite around these parts of the forum is the Chocolate Covered Banana. Now is a great time to check out Whey Smooth as it is $10 off in the bb.com store.
