I'm so tempted to try and make some money on Tsla puts but it is so unpredictable. I cannot fathom it continuing to climb after today(almost everyone covered by this point if they are scared.) Feb 17th 235 @ $3.40 sounds so dam good, but idk if I can pull the trigger. Fuk I wish I was working full time and had a couple G's to throw at this play.
RSI 84 today fuk it I am all in on this one for 3 contracts(all in on cash sitting in my account). Absolutely no way we don't see a retrace in the next month. I don't care if Elon goes and wanks Trump off before Q4 results there is no way it can keep these shenanigans up. Last couple times RSI got into the mid 70s there was a 15$ crash within a couple days. What are the odds this one continues to climb for no reason? Not a whole lot of exciting news other than the fact that Elon manufactures everything in the USA which will please the great overlord Trump.

Saw a lot of people talking about the money they made on TSLA on twitter today and making fun of shorts. I think we should be close to a top.
I am definitely trying a short once we get into that area i don't give a fuuk.. Would be like long-term puts for me tho, with a price target of at least -40%

So you are gonna wait till closer to $260? IDK what kind of money you are playing with but long term TSLA puts are expensive...

There's all sort of dates and strikes with difference prices. But yes, If I were to play TSLA my exact plans would be wait for it to enter that zone.
Targetting Jan18 Puts, Maybe 170ish strike. Like I said If I were to touch it I would be looking for a ~$100 drop by next year.
Buying something and watching it for that long is torture for me since I am used to the position and money moving a big % within the day. Most of the time I always adjust and do random crap to it.
But recently found myself being more profitable giving positions more time.Last edited by Slamt; 01-24-2017 at 01:35 PM.

As someone that went in on TSLA at $194 and change maybe a month or two ago, and remains long, I'll proffer two points.
1. You need to be incredibly careful shorting growth stocks. I considered shorting FB at $50 and AMZN at $300. I would have been slaughtered. Luckily I've never truly gone short unless you consider currency relationships as a long/short.
2. TSLA is basically a news dependent stock if your timeframe is month to month. I can't predict TSLA battery fires, automated driving accidents etc., I believe no one can.
Bad information on their accounting, tech, competitiveness, etc. could make you a killing. The risk adjusted scenario at today's price is probably in your favor for a 1-3 month short, it seems like a swing stock, however only use capital you aren't scared to lose.
This sounds preposterous but went on a date with a former WWE Diva, low level and while she was on national tv was a heel or one of the no-name chicks who just get beaten up. Only concern is her Ex who got her into the business works close to me and according to her wears a 56R suit, is crazy, and has beaten up other guys she's dated. I'm 240 lbs and wear a 48R suit... I'm a former bouncer and not really scared of anyone, but a guy 4" taller than me that is significantly bigger than me and wrestled in the wwe regardless of it being fake, gives me pause for concern.

What's up boyos. I just got this bad boy today so I wanted to get you guys' thoughts on the CFA. Is it valuable or a waste of time? Does it carry any weight when it comes to getting interviews? I currently work in FP&A at a F500 and my goal is to use the CFA to transfer to my company's investments division and pursue a CIO/CFO track.

Gold had its major low its due for a quick pullback here take advantage ( I know venom is still waiting for $700). s&p going to 2600+ this year before major bear market. USD index could be going to low 90's before a final rally to 107-110 area and yes gold will rise with it.Last edited by jackedguy87; 01-24-2017 at 07:40 PM.

Yeah... all signs point to while WWE is fake fighting, that he can actually throw down.
Not a fan of that.
On the bright side... maybe he's slow?
High potential, high risk remains.
Fortune favors the bold, and I do agree that USD has more potential on the downside than upside. My best bet is it ticks slightly higher, but while a lower percentage chance it could move significantly lower than it can higher. Expected value is to the downside (percentage chance X downside or upside movement potential).Last edited by ReyDelMundo; 01-24-2017 at 08:52 PM.

I'm really noobing it up, don't worry.
Got hyped up when trump won and exchanged 10k cdn to usd at 1.361. Kicking myself now. can it just go to 1.400 tomorrow and ill pull out and try to redo redo things? (wishful thinking)
Then ya I bought 4k worth of shares of coke when the exchange rate was 1.305, figured I would get a decent rate only to get boned on settlement date at 1.346.
So basically I've completely fuked the forex from start to finish. Oh well it's been a learning experience.
The thing is now I'm already 16k into USD. I know if the exchange rate breaks 1.299 I will be tempted to buy even more. But should I?You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told you're a god or a total bastard. The iron always kicks you the real deal. It's the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. I have found it to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But 200 pounds is always 200 pounds.

It's a good designation in that you're investing in yourself and you'll learn a lot in the process. I doubt it adds much weight to getting interviews in corporate finance, but I don't know, that's never been an area I've tried to get work in. It definitely gives you a slight edge in getting interviews for research related roles, but at the end of the day, it's about how you portray yourself in the interview and not the designation.
Congrats on passing L1. If you are going straight to L2 in June, I'd advise starting ASAP. L2 Quant, Derivatives, FR&A, and Fixed Income are a bish for most people.Trading/Investing Thread Crew
