The guy should've won 3 years in a row, 2012,2013,2014. This year he did major back improvements but he got a little gut, but still, he was the best on stage.

With all the respect, but people that claim to know about bodybuilding says he lacks things, but most of these people has lost the sense of aesthetics long time ago, prefering dudes like Heath or Kai that are unaesthetic as ****, which goes against the pure purpose of bodybuilding roots.......I don't understand why people are so blind, this is the only guy who presents a "non-freak" body, I would like to look like that.....Shawn Rhoden 2016, the uncrowned Mr. Olympia.....

am i the only one that thinks kai greene is completely overlooked by 'classic physique' non-investigating fan boys? The same people that rank arnold amongst gods fail to see that kai is the first person since arnold who has a bodybuilding approach that is completely his and he is the first guy since arnold to sculpt and forge and create a unique looking, MASSIVE, beautiful physique with his mind?

His front double bi alone should win him the olympia. 2014 he was smaller and a little less grainy than phil but i think he can beat him now. olympia aside, he defines or rather, re-defines in a still classical and unshakably real way, what bodybuilding is all about.

i think since he is the pioneer of his time some things got overlooked or are imperfect. for example, smaller glutes and less squatting would make such a ridiculously beautiful physique. but his upper back, quads, hammies, and front double bi are to die for. his mm isnt lacking either

rhoden has a stellar physique but lacks any thickness whatsoever his physique is very 2d with no depth. looks like a picture of a great bodybuilder rather than actually looking like one. not enough heavy weight lifted for density and thickness. his quads are beautiful but lack 3d as well. he looks like a pane of glass rather than a prism. only his arms are thick

The Olympia isn't the Nobel Peace Prize that recognizes lifetime achievement or personal motivations. It's a sporting event that judges you on a performance during one single weekend. It doesn't (and shouldn't) matter what your training philosophy is - all that should matter is what kind of package you bring to stage.

And saying that one pose should win him an Olympia completely ignores the idea that bodybuilding is about having a COMPLETE physique.

Shawn looked great, but I feel a little more arm detail, better waist control and some deeper back detail is what he needs to beat Heath.

If Shawn had won, I wouldn't have felt it was undeserved, but I think Phil was just good enough to win. Let's not forget Dex,he looked just has good.

In terms of poses against Phil, this is how he stacks up imo:

1. FDB-Shawn obviously, much better flow
2. FLS-again Shawn clearly wins this one, wider, better quads
3. SC-Phil wins this one, although Shawn's side chest is pretty good as well
4. ST-Phil wins this one, Shawn has a much more aesthetic midsection but Phil dominates him in the delt and tricep department
5. BDB-Phil wins this one very easily, he has one of the best bdb atm
6. RLS-Phil wins this one but it's close, Shawn has him on width but Phil's lower back smokes Shawn's.
7. AT-Along with the FDB this is Shawn's best pose, he easily wins this one
8. MM-Phil wins the hands clasped, crab, but Shawn wins the hands on hip. So overall would go to Phil

repped but also you shouldnt forget that this is the right approach for finals. Phil looked super flat for the prejudging and just smaller next to Rhoden until the very last 2 minutes of prejudging.

Agreed on everything except the crab, Phil's makes him look like a kangaroo at the best of times and Shawn's looked crazy good this year

OP, Phil is not the best Mr. O, but atm, he is the best, believe it or not, Shawn is not better than Phil, it seems he has the potential, and next to Big Ramy and Cedric, fmpov these are the ones that can take Phil's crown in the next years... Phil hasn't made improvements, or at least, not good enough ones.

Shawn this year looked pretty good and defo packing much more mass, but no way he could win this Olympia, tbh, I don't even know how he took 3rd and Dennis W. 4th, Shawn lower abs was bloated, not as bloated as Obaid (which was horrible gut), but still quite outstanding from some angles and his conditioning could have been better, the mid section this year was bad...

PS: No, Phil is not unaesthetic and yes, Shawn it is a mass freak... LOL@ Shawn having to win the O. 3 years in a row, troll?

He didn't beat Phil overall. Phil has the entire package currently - Rhoden lost in certain aspects.

For me the better overall guy is Rhoden. For me he have the better package. Bigger, wider and in very good condition.
Phil arms first are imbalance and second overpowring his body. Yes, he have big arms, but his frame is small and his arms overpowering else, esp. with his narrownes.
And when you say Phil have this, that, but he lacks size and look insane small this year even next to Rhoden, Wolf dwarf him big time. And Phil may have bigger arms, but Rhoden have bigger legs. And you got to be blind to say he have weak chest. This year his chest was better then Phil for sure. Phil chest are thick but they look narrow as hell. I kinda dont like the idea the smallest guy on top 5 to win ....
Rhoden may not have Phil details in the back, but he have the width, esp. in the RLS and for me that pose is debatable, as well with SC, ST.
MM, abs and thigh, FLS, FDB.
