Watched a few minutes of it... short answer: nah. He's confusing sustainability with scalability. An influx of new amazon sellers isn't going to fundamentally change how B&M retailers do business. His valid point is that building and owning a brand is the way to build a real scalable business (imo). He just turned it into some sensationalist hooey.

Cody Hawk is a sensationalist. He's also a business man with an agenda. For those two reasons alone I don't watch much of his chit, and if I do, I try to discard most of what he says for the couple decent points he might be making under all the sensation. Most of those decent points are just common sense, though.
tldr: no it isn't true

Watched half the video, he is pretty much spot on.
I've been doing RA for 6 months and the competition has gotten insane. I found a new item at a grocery store that was $8 and selling for $18 AZ. Had like 3-4 sellers, by the time it got checked in there was 15+ sellers and they had driven the price down to $12, no profit at all.
This has pretty much become the standard on anything that is easy to find. I try to look for stuff that is hard to find, discontinued, or things in categories other people wouldn't think to sell. Example: Bought 2 minion rugs at WM for $24 sold them for $89, they were huge and had to get oversize box to send them in.
Basically if you can walk into a store and buy something with a profit, expect there to be 5 other people selling that item by the time yours gets to the warehouse.
With repricers and the influx of noobs that can't calculate profit and don't understand how to share buy box they drive down the prices so much your lucky to make any profit at all on those crowded items.
RA is getting tough, and doesn't help stores are cracking down on it (Target, Kohls). It's not a long term business plan at all but a great way to get started and see how AZ selling works.

I've heard people say the true skill in arbitrage is knowing when to dump and when to hold. I just bought an item recently that was $125 with 1 fba seller at the time of purchase. It just got to the warehouse today. Now it's at $95 with 18 fba sellers. Not one seller below me has more than 3 in stock though, so my thought is to hold.
I lift therefore I am.

Yup Amazon is like the stock market. If the item you bought is hard to find and/or a very fast seller then hang on to it.
I have $3k worth of a grocery item sitting and waiting until price goes up. It's discontinued but people went crazy and drove price down to $20 now its back to $27. Waiting to sell between 30-35.
If it's ranked less than 10K BSR it's usually a good idea to wait a while.

yup
If you're dealing with a great rank (ie: <15k in toys) I always hold. Stock gets dumped so fast it's not worth racing to the bottom and everyone runs out eventually
For less than optimal ranks I'll give it 90 days (depends on business model) and then if chit is still looking bad in terms of competition I'll put it on sale to get rid of it and hopefully break even or get a slight profit

DO NOT USE EBATES OR FATWALLET! They are owned by the same company. Fatwallet banned me. My account was like 10 years old. Never had a problem but I think I was earning too much and they were worried about fraud. They have $400 that they refuse to pay out so im going to write the BBB once I get some free time.

Where do you brahs see PL going in the future? Seems like everyone and their brother is jumping into PL and that's the overall goal these days. Is amazon eventually just going to morph into 30+ pages of variations of a generic product with 150 reviews on each one or do you think Amazon is going to shake this trend up in some way or another?

What do you brahs use for keeping track of your profit margins? I'm looking for a program or a spreadsheet template that I could use to keep track of inventory/sales/expenses for tax purposes and just to see how my profit/loss is looking.
